  • Horrible Misleading Advice

#1. Deleting temp files does not improve performance it frees up disk space!!

#2. Never uncheck that box in MSCONFIG since it will disable EVERYTHING that runs during startup such as AntiVirus and AntiSpyware ect...

    • Yes it does...

Deleting temp files does improve performance as well as clear up disk space. Also, I noted that one should be carefull when checking the box and should go to the load/unload tab to check individual items.

    • Wrong!!!

No it does not!!! Please provide documented reproduceable tests with benchmarks that show deleting temp files improves performance. Than explain how. How many temp files are on your computer is irrelevant to performance outside of antivirus scans. Applications, games and your system do not run any faster because of it.

    • Sounds logical to me

When I finally learned about temp files, that folder had 10 gigs worth of files. By me deleting them, isn't that 10 gigs the PC doesn't have to index, or worry about and whatever else it does with 10 gigs of files?
