  • No its not real

Well yes it is reall but what isn't seen is that there is electricity being run through the light bulb. What is happening is that one of the wires leading to the bulb has been cut and put into deionized water (thats what the two wires hanging down are. Now Deionized water will not conduct electricity but when salt is desolved in the water it ionizes and makes the water very conductive. This closes the circut and causes the light to glow.

    • wheres the connection...

so where is the power coming from.? Is there a hidden outside wire we can't see or is this self generating.?

  • yess its real...

all you need to create a battery(really a cell) is two dissimilar metals and an electrolyte. in my engineering lab we regularly use salt water , copper, and aluminum. electrons move from one metal through the water to the other metal. this causes a weak current, but a current nonetheless. if left alone for long enough one of the metals will completely dissolve and will have coated the other metal.
(i dont think its likely to get this strong of a glowing light with saltwater, but some other electrolyte would work better assuredly.)

    do your homework guys

  • Deceptive

The salt only makes the water conductive,
allowing current to pass through. There's
a hidden battery or power source somewhere, probably in the bulb base
or the cardboard(?) support. Even if the
wires protruding into the water were dissimilar metals (to create a battery), the voltage wouldn't be high enough to light the bulb.

On the other hand, a bunch of flat, nickel-sized computer batteries in series,
pasted under or between sheets of card- board, could be run in series to power a 40 - 60W bulb.

    Making monkies of us.
