the whole point if drag racing, is to make the car go fast. a big engine provides alot of torque.torque is what gets the car shifting.not nessarily hp. the japs can built very quick cars, but to be fair a v8 is alot quicker when built. americans crap for circuits,but best for drag racing.

All muscle cars can do (and i mean the best ones) is just drag race on a strip. every other aspect of those cars (performance wise) is crap. take it out on a track and they just dont make it so well. street race and they cant cut corners that well. although i have to agree that sometimes the custom ones look great.

by definition it has to have a back seat. they were nver meant for a track. thats what sports cars are for, agile handling and power.

i seem to remember the c6 corvette killing ferraris and averything anybody threw at it on the track. everybody deserves the spotlight sometimes.

American cars are just pieces of S**t I rather build my car perfect instead of just dropping in an engine and thats it. I'd pick a v4 over a v8 anyday. Japanese cars are far better than American cars. The reason why. American cars everything falls apart of it. My ex g/f dad has a Honda CRX 1989. And he has only replaced the parts on the car maybe like 3 times. And hew had a Ford Mustage and the Ford Mustage had more problems than I don't know what. FORD= Found on road dead. Give me a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo and I could beat a Dodge Viper just like that. You dumb F**king Americans thinking American cars are the S**t cause they have v8's in them. V8 don't mean jack S**t I read in a car mag. Uh Super Street. A 1600HP i can't remember the torque on that. That car only has a v6. Yeah hp is only for bragging rights. And torque is what gets your car down the road. American cars just will never when against a Japanese car. Take a American car to Japan and I bet it gets its ass whooped. Ok oviously this guy is a dumdass and dosent know what hes talking about. Yes, japanese cars are high tech and advanced. But that takes the fun out of the whole car. Now the only thing to increase horse power is to plug-in your laptop or something. Americain cars are big powerful machine that has lots of mechanical work to make the horspower but yet is mostly made for racing. Not everyone likes jap cars and americain cars. there is no such thing as a V4, a 4 cylider is inline. EXAMPLE a supra has a 3.0 litre dual turbo inline 6. OMG that is a car, i think the supra can take just about anything in a drag.

if you put all that tech in a v-8 it would devour a four cylinder

Japanese cars are the best in terms of power and handling combined. Look at how many Japanese automakers operate in the US. Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Mazda. Then there are are makers like Infinite and acura, lexus which are luxury sub units of Japanese companies, Nissan, Honda and Toyota. I had a Toyota truck for bout 23 years, only got rid of because, I needed more power than she could gyv, so I bought a Mazda. American cars just know how to go fast in a str8 line.

Drag racing does not depend one the power of one car. Its about the driver driving the car. If you take someone that hasn't ever driven a stick before and put him in a car that has lets say 500 hp and put him up against a a professional drag racer who has a car that has 250 hp, the pro will when because he knows how to drive and shift that car.

what if they both are pros and its 250hp VS 500hp, then what? if ur going on a drag strip, then u obviously know what ur doing, ppl dont start racing on a drag strip. all it depends on is 3 things
1. Power of your engine
2. weight of your vechicle
3. Delivery of power (Grip, Transmission)
