What is the Best Keyword Density?

People have questions about what their keyword density should be for their articles and webpages. In reality there is no specific number that Google has in mind when judging a page in its keywords. Many so-called experts claim that 3%, 4% even as high as 7% keyword density is important for your articles. But here's the real truth.

Matt Cutts in his recent blog post on this subject, he points out that if a webmaster simply has the keyword in the title tag and several times in the article Google will figure it out. This indicates to me that there is no specific keyword density that Google looks for when judging and ranking a page.

Additionally,Ezinearticles limits the keyword density in their articles to 2%. This is further indication that higher density percentages simply do not work. Since they get their income from search engine traffic, it makes sense that they use the optimum keyword density to get the most traffic. If they thought 4% would bring in more traffic than their maximum would be 4%. They obviously have discovered there is a law of diminishing returns when it comes to higher and higher keyword densities. In fact, some people believe they keyword densities in the four to 7% range may actually hinder the article's performance in the rankings
