if he had the charger the whole time, how come he just couldnt have charged the OLD battery, i was actually amazed by this, but then he charged the new one, why couldnt he have just done this the first time?

So a lot of people would not even be able to buy spare parts! Stupid company anyway.

i hooked up ,and all those amp's gave me a boner.

But one thing to consider. Can your charger charge the battery to the new rating? Assuming the old battery is only 600mAh and you now put in a 2300mAh, will it be able to charge till the max? Will it get too hot. To be safe, keep it to the orignal rating as possible.

but i ruined the plastic cover of my HP battery (luckily it was spoilt). You guys must be extra careful with that plastic cover, its fragile! BTW my battery contains 12 large 18650 batteries!

Not a bad deal...........but by the time you pay for gas to and from the store, and factor in how valuable your time is.....(some peoples time is more important than others) I think the 70.00 extra dollars is well spent. (Not to mention the fact that you may have to purchase a soldering iron as well).

why didnt you apply power to the yellow batteries??

I watched this clip twice and then flipped over the lap-top, removing the battery and started to disassemble it. That was not easily done. It's a hp f2019a that can be found for 85$. It contains 8 Li+ batteries and they are taking up the whole space. There was no way that I could get them out and still have the casing left intact to put new into. The worst part is that the battery worked perfectly before I started and now it is broken.

I'm amazed at how many of our essential technostuff can be fixed without paying for new or reconditioned stuff. But I always drew the line at laptop batteries, even though I refill printer and copier cartridges, etc. Thanks for the info! My laptop battery is practically dead, so if I mess up, there's no great loss.

Those very big bateries are very old also, i can't do that whit a 2009 laptop batery

even the batteries from well known companies are susceptible to the danger of overheating and explosion.....so i dont find it really a great job....especially in laptops...think abt the cost of the laptop not the batteries....

The problem with most laptop batteries is they have a circuit which prevents charging of the battery to full power after a certain number of charges, so you have to find out how to reset that counter if you want this technique to work as expected.

Now I will tell you how to use a laptop battery better :
Do not short circuit battery terminals. Keep battery terminals away from metal objects.
* Do not reverse the voltage.
* Do not expose the battery to moisture or rain.
* Do not drop, hit or otherwise abuse the battery as this may result in the exposure of the cell contents, which are corrosive.
* Do not incinerate or expose battery to extreme heat, which may result in an explosion.
* Do not leave batteries in device for long periods of time when device is not being used.
* Do not disassemble or try to modify the battery pack.

I recently received a 4 years old HP laptop and the battery is wore out so I took it apart like you did but there was no AA batteries inside. Instead, I found some weird looking blocks with some sort liquid... how do I hack those?

This worked beautifully on my Inspiron 1100 battery. With this, and a processor swap (from the stock desktop Celeron to a cool and low-power Pentium M), I got crazy battery life.

Mind you, I did add four extra batteries to the mix in parallel with the four banks of two (for a sum of 3px4s) of the 18x65mm 3.7v 2600mAh batteries Tenergy puts out. The resulting 7800mAh of power is enough to run my lappie for three hours - from the 30 minutes I was getting before, all for less than the cost of a fresh stock battery (4300mAh).

Note: You can have as many batteries as your battery case can fit, so long as (1) the total output voltage is the same, and (2) the cells in serial are homogenous (ie: 3->3->3, not 3->2->3).

So, for example, if your pack can hold 13 batteries, your pack's voltage should be 10.8v, and your batteries are 3.6v, your serial line should have three cells (10.8v/3.6v=3), and your parallel cells should have four batteries each (floor(13/3)=4), for a total of 12 batteries.

i live in the uk and have a Hp nx6110 laptop and i need a replacement battery i looked at this hack and thought im getting me some lithium ion batteries but here in the uk i cant seem to get any rechargable ones. is there any online stores that sell rechargable lithium ion battieries.

I did this with my norelco triple head shaver. Three radio shack AA nickel cads. I saved $100 because you would have to buy a new shaver otherwise.

Tech is right lithium batteries are crazy dangerous and using a type that is incompatible with the charge circuit or the batteries shorting can result in the batteries building up hydrogen gas within the cell to the point it will cause the cell to burst and burn.

Andy I encourage you to remove this as this could be held civilly or even criminally liable for someone burning down their house or killing themselves because of this. Not to mention the guild that would go along with it.
