    Chases in USA always take a lot of time.
    In Holland, that kid would have been stopped after a few minutes.
    I guess it has something to do about US laws so cops don't want to get sewed.
    Unfortunately, the chases are sometimes live on tv, so news networks get great money of them.
    They are however very spectacular...

    I hope the cops over there do get privileges one day to shoot, stop, ram, smack, do whatever they think is neccesairy to stop this in an much more early stage...

      the reason chases go on so much longer is that we have longer roads, and highways. also alot more people using them. so our police have to maintain a certain distance so not to endanger any other pedestrians on the road. but if the suspects are going to run over the police or any one else the cops are allowed to open fire on them. and when there isnt very many pedestrians around the cops can ram, pit, and use other driving maneuvers. also if they know where the suspects are going to be the cops can set up spike strips.

      cops stop criminals, but they do it in a way to keep as many civilians safe as possible. Cops have the right to ram, smack, shoot tires, and lay spike strips. it's up to the district supervisor and the discretion of those cops on scene.     Why endanger public over stolen car? Maybe cops need to stop chasing them when speeds get to 120. Track them with copter and get them where they stop with units without flashing lights.Sure hope they use tiny needle when I get "sewed".

    Crew chief or the police officer makes the rules also he can brake them...
    In this case they just wanted to get the kid away from the civilian site... we watch the clip and whatever happens we are just specaculars but they think more than we do that's why they are police... what if a kid has a pistol and takes anyone else as a hostige? or what if a kid does a suicide in case gets trapped in middle of the street where the passengers walks away?
