My last cat always tried desperately to stay awake while she was lying on her faux lamb's wool sleeping pad on my desk, beside my computer. While I wrote or played a game, she would slowly nod off, fighting it all the way, until she finally lost the battle, and her head would hit the pad with a muffled thud.
