  • Simple Algebraic Proof,

    two digit number of form 10a+b, digits are a and b between 0 and 9. subtract digits from original number and get (10a+b) - b - a = 10a - a = 9a, so result is 9 times the tens digit of original number.

    Take a close look and then explain. 99 and 18 are both numbers who can be devided by 9, but they doesn't got the same symbol!! Why is that?

      Since 99 is the highest two digit number that you can choose at the beginning, then the highest end total you need to look up on the chart is 81 (99-18). The lowest starting is 10 therefore lowest end total is 9 (10-1). So all of the numbers from 9 to 81 that are multiples of 9 have same symbol... and any numbers below 9 and above 81, really dont matter. For example... 99... which has different symbol to just throw you off.

      you don't need to have the same symbol for 99, you will never get 99 when taking a 2 digit number and subtract the sum of its digit. ^^
      18 got the same symbol as others. Symbols are on the right of numbers!!!
