This is an amazing manoeuvre performed by Frecce Tricolori's pilot Andrea Rossi at Trieste Airshow 2006. Check as he turns the engine off at the top of the climb!

  • Nice!

It looks like it would be a lot of fun to fly with him.

What kind of camera are you using? It focused really well even when you panned over the sun.

lucky he doesn't fly like this guy drives: http://www.stateofbrain.com/links/1179/

Actually I used a pretty cheap Samsung VP-D351... Which makes me surprised as well for the final result :) It behaves pretty well in the sun, and has an excellent audio. But it is awful at night :|

  • Turns the engine off!?

What makes you think he turns the engine off? Oh... because the plane stops going up!? Grrr

    • Well....

That's what the guy on the michropone said before the beginning of the manoeuvre; he also said that the Aermacchi MB339 is the only jet plane capable of doing this manoeuvre, called Lomçovak.
Not being exactly an expert, I had no reason to think that was bulls**t... But if you know it is so, please feel free to share, there's always room for improvement. "Grr" doesn't add much to the conversation, I'm afraid.

    • Right the first time :)

You were right the first time :) It's the italian acrobatic team, performing in Trieste, which is located in north-east Italy, very next to the border with Slovenia, for the local air show :)
Here you can find some information about them, if you like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frecce_Tricolori :)
