The Edinburgh Festival Comedy Cavalcade 2009 sees performers from all the Edinburgh Festivals roll through the city in an annual procession at the beginning of August. It usually takes place on the first Sunday of the month, but in 2009 was scheduled for Sunday 9 August. There was a question mark over whether the event will go ahead in 2009 as the Edinburgh Tram Project is laying tracks on Princes Street - a main part of the route - from February to November. However, the event relocated to Holyrood Park. The Comedy Cavalcade first took place in 1976. Over 175,000 spectators typically crowd into the streets for the event.
