That's right! Now you can change traffic lights with just a remote control that can be found at any store, and I'll show you how! For instuctional purposes only.
that will mute my girlfriend constant nagging?
By gregboner 1175114584 Reply Spam [+115] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removebut you can always buy scotch tape...it's cheaper :)!
By devilishmagician 1175203888 Reply Spam [+52] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe Scotch tape, it's what I call it. DUCT TAPE should be it though in the US.
By devilishmagician 1175283130 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAll he did was find a deserted T-Junction and count the number of seconds it took to turn green, and then push the button at the exact time.
no computer can react instantly from an IR reception, a remote can't even get on those frequencies, they are reserved by the FCC, only an illegal transmitter could access them.
PS.
Not even tape designed for air ducts could stop all of the hot air from spewing from my GF's mouth!
Did you notice the cars whizzing through as he pushed the button and the light went green?

By lgreenleaf 1175212107 Reply Spam [+8] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveManila. You can go even if the trffic light is red.if you get caught just give 200 pesos to the policeman and you're free
in mexico if you get caugth crossing a red light you give 50 pesos to the policeman thats like $4.40 dollars
By N3xaR 1178513466 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewe ran a red, and the cops saw us.
he said he'd let us go for 300 pesos, and we declined, saying we would report him and he would lose his job if he didnt pay US 300 pesos.
anyway, he paid it, and gave us the ticket.
luckily, the station was a half block away, and there was no line!
the fine was 22 pesos, leaving us with about a $25 reward for running a red light !
yeah its true!!! 200 pesos is something 3 pounds and you can escape to be jailed.

By gjosueg 1175133634 Reply Spam [+9] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeof course all the lights turn red, but if there light just turns red without any warning they will hit there brake and everyone behind may crash...in this vid he presses the button and it turns green automatically and for the othere people, there light wouldnt chage to yellow, just red and tht could cause problems.

By ninjamaster 1176767948 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI've heard about "Special Sensors" in ambulances and busses so it sounds plausible. I bet The Mythbusters wouldn't dare to debunk this one even if its not true. It would change the whole traffic system wouldn't it?
By Superharmonic 1175166883 Reply Spam [+3] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt's Opticom. Read my post. The cops have it, the FD has it, the ambulance service has it! It's a white strobe flash in a certain frequency that triggers these lights. Each department of emergency vehicles can control the lights.
Opticom GPS uses future-forward global positioning system technology for precise priority control and intersection management. GPS technology helps to deliver the same life-saving and property-saving results that makes 3M the preferred choice in priority control. Search Google.
You must be an Opticom advertiser, right?

By mrcashmoney 1175208477 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI am a firefighter and I can tell you it aint gonna happen. The device on top of traffic lights is called an Opticom. Only emergency vehicles with an installed Opticom strobe on them will trigger the lights to change. Not all emergency vehicles have an Opticom system installed, as well as some lights. Remotes and flashing your headlights will not do anything!
By Dman134 1176319326 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveApril Fools still isn't for another day...
By Dash-2 1175321223 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThink about this kids. You are suggesting that a sensor designed to 'see' visible stroboscopic light is going to be affeted by a VERY short range infra red device? NOT! It is the stroboscopic frequency which controls the light.
Oh, and the 'you might have to try a few different combinations'. Are you good at math? Count the buttons on the remote you show, do the math and report back on how many thousand combinations there are.
how can you change the traffic light from that far away when your remote range isn't even more than 20-30 feet? just use your remote step like 20 feet back from the tv and try and turn it on, it wont work, the distance from your car to that traffic light is way more than that
By TapemanPL 1175302693 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveMy remote will work from wwwaaaaaayyyyy far away. why wouldn't it work here?
By mancinimann 1175448200 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeis at a light rite now trying this.
By LosAngeleslifer 1175299662 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removedon't belive this shit:Dreallyy
By jaanek 1175290098 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI don't think this stops the other traffic. It looks like the two cars that rolled through weren't trying to beat the light. I don't think this triggers that other lights to turn red. I think that if this works you could get in a really bad accident trying to cross a street that doesn't appear to have a red light.
I still want to try it to say the least just to see if it works.
The intersection is one of those weird ones where cross-traffic doesn't stop on one side...when you turn, you turn into a guiding area that merges you into traffic. This will stop traffic for regular cross traffic.

By mightymanny 1175272688 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethis actually works or not?
By Teenzmatez 1175245867 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removebullshit, whenever i see and emergency vehicle i see it pass on the red light, not some fucken sensors. And the detector he said, that might be an detector fo those trafffic cameras.People today do anything to bulshit us on metacafe, just to get some money off that Producer Rewards,if sumone trys this, tell us if it worked.thi is funny changing the lights with my grandpa`s remote-control :)))
By xmagic 1175239770 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat little sensor thing is actually a light. It flashes when an ambulance or firetruck is approaching. I think they use it for navigating through towns so they know where to go? Just a guess but i call BS on this.
By shallowreef 1175284531 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removesure this will probably only work at night and im not sure about the 911 thing but the science behind it is true. The sensors respond to the 12hz range. i think you would need a brighter light to pull it off. This has been around before trafic cameras or some navigation system for abulances.
First of all, the company that made this remote decides the behavior of the remote for each code. If you have observed, the codes are not the same for the same company TV for different universal remotes. So inorder for the 911 code to work, the company that produced this universal remote should create the circuit such that it sends the proper signal for the traffic lights to react, which I dont think is possible. which remote company wants to mess with govt frequencies ?? .. So its upto u guys to make a judgement . May be I am wrong .. who knows?
By soblikan 1175231433 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removemy universal remote when i bought it didn't have the code to my tv but after a while of screwing with it i did get it to start operating fully, the remotes can learn new codes that aren't in the manual
By listendonthear 1175262288 Reply Spam [+3] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei forgot about that feature. what it does is, it tries every frequency possible until the TV responds, then we have the code for the TV. Similarly, we can do the same with the traffic lights, but definitely, it is not the fixed code 911 on all different remotes
By soblikan 1175274474 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAny other US people that can prove this works?
By Corim123 Productions 1175228494 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Remove"I live in NC and a person here was caught using it...."
By jackieboyz 1175262311 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethat sensor on the stoplight is a receiver that an emergency responding unit controls. It's called opticom and it's not from the red strobes on a emergency response vehicle otherwise everyone would do it. It is from a flashing strobe light in a certain frequency activating it. Go to your local fire station and they can explain it better.
By mulderitsme 1175212690 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe device is for emergency vehiles. Using the device to changing the stop lights suddenly might cause other vehicles to crash at intersections. It might kill innocent people, or even the owner of the device.
This is a toy and please don't play with it. I am not surprised when someone who gets hurt/killed by the toy in this "instructional" video they or their families will sue the instructor and Metacafe.
.................
By listendonthear 1175262326 Reply Spam [+3] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt won't change the lights instantly, it just tells the controller to forego the normal cycle and begin a switch (including going to yellow/red for currently green direction).
Do you really need to call it "the device"? It's a freakin universal remote. Relax, you're a lot more likely to be killed by someone who blantanly runs the light that by someone trying to speed it up with a remote.
you're a lot of fun.

By mancinimann 1175448079 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI live in NC and a person here was caught using it. The traffic sensors monitor when lights are changed using this technology. The Dept. of Transportation noticed that the same lights were being changed the same time every morning. They looked at the cameras monitoring the intersections and found the same vehicle was present every time. Nailed the guy!

By jackieboyz 1175262969 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removebut he didnt use a remote, its a strobe thing youll see on top of all emergency vehicles that send and an incredibly fast pulsing of light, not the red and blue lights, but yes he was caught using this technology, but the punishment is a mistemeanor, its a slap on the wrist at most, well worth it if you ask me
