Sure, he isn't as flamboyant and cool as Bruce Lee, but I'm sure he can counter almost anything.
All these could work in combat if he practiced just that one technique. A succesful "street" fighter knows just one or two moves but he knows them really well. A martial arts professional knows many moves and how to practice them without hurting his partner. The real key to doing well on the "street" or in ufc is a willingness to hurt the other person and an ability to absorb damage without losing focus. Most martial arts professionals aren't very good at those two things. In general they are out to train and make money by teaching, to pay the mortgage. "Street" fighters are emotionally immature or injured people with little to offer society. Really different groups of people.
By hamneggz 1175234163Technique will never be able to stand up against a mixed martial artist who ground and pounds.
A lot of it is raw power and sparring only teaches you so much. Everyone likes to be an expert when it comes to fighting haha.
Bas Rutten is hilarious and was a great mma fighter. Check him out here: http://www.stateofbrain.com/links/23/
First, I would hit him across the head with my twinkies, then try a flying remote control, and if all else failed, I would douse him in bourbon and set him on fire.
By pottershand 1176568703ufc doesnt tend to have much style involved in it. It's usually the fastest guy or the strongest guy who can get a hold of the other guy before he can get a hold on them. More or less it seems like just a bunch of flailing imo. Not that I don't like UFC. I just think it gets old after awhile.
By Richard_Leonidas 119654104110,000 or so people that might know about this sort of thing. I was at a seminar with Dan Inosonto and he said the same thing about Bruce Lee. Outside of the movies he did, Bruce practiced the forward rolling punch and had it down so well that no one could stop him. The "Willingness" part is true as well, but can be hard to train. Some people may just not have it in them and not find out until it's too late.
By kali/silat 1175311147In a real fight he would have the chance to perfome some of that moves..., and versus a 100kg man..., game over, one hit and he'd be down...
anyway... nice stuff xD
most martial arts moves look good in t.v. but in actual, why are these people not in the ufc or something so they can prove their master abilities.
By sweating bullet 1175323150cuz the ufc has rules, and these moves would snap limbs if the test dummies didnt flow with the guy doing the technique.
By chrisxx 1196655956Looks like he hurt himself more than the enemy in half of those clips
By RTS 1175194953a gang of 13yos thinking they're hard...coming across this guy...deciding to ACT hard...
and getting each of their little arms broken. :)
but any of the moves where his students are WAITING for him to finish the move would never work in actual combat.
i am NOT saying he cannot handle himself. i don't know the guy, i am just saying that several of these exhibition moves, while pretty to look at, wouldn't pan out in combat.
it s a matter of when you should use this techniques in a combat
it s not just go and break someone's arm
only a midget like this guy can pull this kind of moves.
By cederron 1175338678Ya the vid is impressive. But I know if someone is in the air,You lose balance and the person closer to the ground can have counter move !!!
By Bonggorospe 1175225136Wonder what will happen if they all come at him at once...?

the true masters practice so much that they dont have to try. moves become natural reactions. martial arts in America is a joke they dont train like the people out in the jungle of asia
By vuway 1204584608thats all fine and dandy, as long as hes out of arms reach of my .40 S
By The Beef Hammer 1197729205very similar to hapkido. i had the opportunity of working with frank gracie (related to royce gracie???) at a hapkido seminar this year. jiu-jitsu is amazing. but then again, so many arts are.
By chrisxx 1196655708This only work in the dojo and not in the real world.
Boards don't hit back.
at martial arts testings, they will usually have somebody attack a student and they will defend themselves, with control of course. then once they have proven they can react to a situation, then the boards or bricks come.
By chrisxx 1196656255I like to see him in MMA, the Blackbelts always get their asses kicked because their is no rules, as in street fighting.
By memadman 1196698206...that he knows is coming. He knew ahead of time what the "attacker" was going to do. It's a choreagraphed demonstration. It also helps that his "attacker" threw a punch then stood still and left his arm out for him to grab instead of following up with a combination. In a real fight against a trained fighter those moves might work once every one hundred tries - if he's lucky.
By ozium 1182233702damn talk about putting someone right on their effin ass!
By floydian18 1181369806something notable is that his students just freeze themselves when they are caught/parried and don't give the slightest struggle...well i guess it's just a demonstration
By thehymner 1180313124the techniques are meant to be used once you have roughed up your attacker a bit. these are usually just the finishing touch.
By chrisxx 1196656048good moves. All the flying/climbing moves will only work in Hollywood
By tonyastro 1179421787Some of those grappling moves might work but the whole flippin over the head is nonsense. I have wrestled for 9 years and I must tell you if someone started to jump near my head I would simply go to a knee and hit him in his ju-jistu nads. Those flambouyant moves might work on a inexperienced fighter, but to someone who really knows how to grapple and throw a couple will put this guy of his guard. I'm not saying that some of those moves won't work because they will but he is highly unlikley to use those effectively.
By real wreslter 1178836082all the guys in white, throw a punch or make a move, and then just stand still waiting for the guy to drop them.....lol
By Grilled Cheese 1178679834If your gun doesn't work, he will blow your head with his hands :D
By mirage_jet 1180965316This is like doing tests in a lab or practice mode on Tekken 5 where the opponent is in "just stand there" mode. You'll notice a lag between the grapple and the most ridiculous of his air monkey acrobatics - plenty of time for guy in white to kick Sensei Quantum Physics in the nuts.
By What a 1176238555a lot of these moves take about 1-2 seconds to work and im sure everyone knows that a fight can be over in about 3. these moves look great but his opponent isnt even trying to get out of these moves (obviously cause theyre teaching a class). again, these moves might work in very perticular situations but very simple moves and weight shifts can make these moves work against him.
By apaspdapsdpa 1176152203lets see him last 5 minutes against chuck luidell from the u.f.c. or infact any fighter in the u.f.c.
By bigbiglou 1176056208this guys know that they are going down they are not puting any effort in traying to beat the other anemy is a guy that can lift 500 pound and weights 300 will not go down lick that because the sensei will not beable to move the oppennt is not like he is gonna play along
By jhpredator 1175713235Does anyone know what this style is for sure?
By roywlogan 1175230281first off, i've NEVER seen a guy do a flip over someone's arm before... that was just amazing
second, the one where he just puts his leg out in the way of the opponent has been done to me while sparring someone at my studio... not very plesant
5 stars
Guy tried to rob a house, the owner found him, the robber pulled a knife on the guy.
The guy was Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee's son.
The robber ended up in the hospital.
i'd start fights like it was nothing! can you imagine the ladies!! all over you man!! lol
By fireworld05 1175152028Size won't matter much here.. actually you'll likely just hit the ground harder. Significant number of these moves would break bones if you resisted.
