Vietnam Plane Crash

This is not an American made F-4, it is an French built Israeli Mirage III fighter being shot down during the Arab/Israeli Yom Kipper war of 1968. It is real. If you look closely, you can see the vapor trail over the wings dramatically increase as the pilot sees the missle and turns into it adding "g"s to the aircraft.

What a really uneducated thing to say. you cant see in the cockpit so on what grounds do you make this statement? there are hundreds of footage just as this that was filmed during war. To say it was fake is totaly absurd. Why would they fake it? And if its part of a military exercise then i'm sure they would say that, as it would be just as intresting to watch.

This plane was un-manned. This was a missle system test video. The aircraft was an un-manned drone. The Air Force frequently refits older aircraft (such as Viet Nam era F-4 Phantoms) with remote control systems and uses them as targets to test new or modified weapons systems. By the look of this one, the missle system was probably an AIM-9 or some other heat seeking system, as it appeared to follow the drone. Most radar guided missles (such as the AIM-7) are predictive, which means that they try to predict where the plane will be and then try to lead them. Either way, I'm pretty sure no people or animals were harmed during the making of this video!!!

This is definitely not a McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom!It is,however, a "Dassault" built Mirage! But most likely an unmanned drone in a test missle demonstration.

I'm leaning toward a QF-102 or QF-106 drone but the video quality's too poor to be sure.

This is just what Jabba wrote in second comment. Its a Israeli Mirage during Arab Israeli war of 1968. The pilot was killed, read the report of this crash in a book a few years a go. RIP

This is obviously a test range weapons test video. The video is locked on to and tracking the interceptor missle as it closes in on and hits a pilotless remote controlled drone. You should all be proud. Some of your tax dollars are being well spent.

I spent 2 years on an aircraft carrier in the late 70s. F4's have swept wings.

The video fighter appears to have delta wings, like the MIG-21. The MIG 21 was flown by the North Vietnamese. Looks like we got one of them!

It looks as if there wasn't any people inside, but it makes me think how could feel a pilot if he was inside the plane. Many of pilots have died in that way.

It seems the plane was shut down by a rocket. Note an object flying after the plane, plane explodes right when opject hits the plane.

i dont think they would just sit and video this thing thats why i think its a test run, like seeing if he can get out on time... it didnt work

Go USA, join the army, those terrorists!! what a minute, WTF, why has uncle Sam invaded over and over. If it was to "police the world" What about Northern Ireland? What about Gaza? Why Panama? etc... Think about it. Economic factors and allies maybe? yes some times neccesary but some times poor policy.
