What a strange race setup, a F1 racing asainst a Moto GP and a racing boat in a quarter mile drag.

  • Fifth Gear NO BALLS

    F1 is the highest performance and so is MotoGP
    So why they challenged Tuned stockbike (superbike) instead of
    RC211V (GP bike) ? because Fifth gear is always promoting 4wheels thats why..,
    they are fanatics (lunatics?)! They know that if they challenge MotoGP bike
    the F1 car will lose (almost loses with superbike)..

    They dont have balls for real chalange!

      there isnt a bike that could keep traction long enough to beat the f1. it just showed you. did you not notice the 100mph mark when jensen stuck his foot down? do you not realise that when they were even, he was only half throttle? did you not see it piss the bike at 100? why cant you biker chaps accept that bikes are not the fastest rides on the planet?
      accept it it and be cool about it, you know it makes sense.

      common dude that is a street bike against the fastest race car on the planet and it fared pretty darn well if you ask me. The RC211v has 240hp to the rear wheel with a red line of 16000 rpm that bike in the clip was a lowly cbr1000 maybe 145 150 hp and a red line of 13,000 and also weighs a hell of a lot more also the RC211v cost ruffly 5 million bucks that bike in the clip yah about 13000 with mods. like the informed comments above its not fair to compare a street bike you and I can buy against a F1 car plug the RC211v in their and its a different story for sure. by the way the RC211v has traction control as well pulse a slipper clutch but because the bike has so much power it is only good for about 1 2 starts. also the Rc211v has a top speed of about 220 to 240 mph depending on selected gearing, bike in clip about 180 mph street trim. I agree not much of anything is as fast as a f1 around a track but a straight line the RC211v would give it a run in my opinion

      I'm doing some digging on the web right now because i'm sure the GP out accelerates the F1 car, up to the bikes terminal speed down a straight. I was with a GP team owner one night, along with some other well informed people, who said they had speed trapped the car and the bike coming out of a third gear corner (about 120KPH) and going down the main straight, and the bike ate the car up. However, the car recorded a higher top speed at the end of the straight because the bikes have to start braking earlier

      gp-bikes are accelerating faster in corners too but f1 cars have better turn radius and handling that can permit more speed in corners, and as you all know on tracks you have more corners than straights - thats why f1 cars have better times than motogp class

      What they didn't mention is cost. The boat would a bout US$100,000 perhaps more, the F1 car about US$2,000,000, the bike about US$12,000. Given those sort of numbers the bike beats both of them.

        They should have demonstrated how the F1 car could come to a complete stop in 10times shorter distance than the bike and 100times shorter distance than the boat hehehe.. no vehicle can brake quicker than an F1 car.

                I found a old video with a unlimited hydroplane generating 3 times the horsepower of an f1 race car and it accelerates from 0-100mph in .086 of a second of water. I think that would have been a good race if they used that and ghostriders hayabusa(499 hp) with a long swinging arm.

                  they used a top car but not a top boat or bike. should have used a moto gp bike. i know the boat can hit 100mph in 3 ish seconds. I saw a race between a f1 car bsb superbike and a plane and the car and bikes acceleration was very simular

                                    It would have been interesting to see how a Honda RC211V MotoGP bike would have compared to the F1 car rather than a Honda CBR 1000 RR superbike. I don't think the RC211V's lighter weight and extra power would have made up the difference at the finish line, but it would have made it more of a nail bitter. Anyhow great race and hope to see a rematch.

                                        Thats a HM Plant Honda from British Super Bikes, NOT a MotoGP bike. A Superbike is not as quick as a MotoGP so a bit of an unfair test. Also the car must have a better power to weight ratio I think and more grip. But who has the most balls, the driver or the rider ;-) Obvious answer I think.

                                                I love bikes, iv watched F1 my whole life, a gp bike will NOT beat a formula 1 car. It will not happen. F1 cars have faster acceleration much better handeling, a Gp bike doesnt stand a chance in hell. I prefer moto gp but thats just the truth, 2 wheels vs 4. And to the idiot that said "thats the fastest car in the world" its not. Look at drag racing cars, that will own an F1 car if they were drag racing.                                                 Nerds, on a track like Monza F1 cars are almost 30 seconds per lap quicker than MotoGP, and that track has long straights!! No way MotoGP loses all that time in the corners so no way that it keeps up on the straight ! The numbers speak so can it, F1 is faster period!

                                                  But you bike guys won't accept those times nor will you check them .

                                                  PS I hate F1 .... boring as ......... Nitro is where it's at.
