I tried my best to clean up the video and played it frame by frame. Still sketchy at best but at the very end there is still a black glove on the riders hand. There is clearly no blood. In fact in the frame by frame the explosion seems to have been greater on the right side then the left. Then something (still cant figure out what) flies from the RIGHT side of the bike. Not the left. Watching drag bikes ive seen a few booms but that one I cant figure out for sure. The video is just to shoddy. It is definetly coming from the front of the engine. Depending on the tilt of the engine it could be a lot of things. Without a true testimony nobody will know for sure. But if you play through Media Player 10 you can do a frame by frame. Even with no video cleanup you can still tell that the riders hand is just fine. Anyone saying otherwise is just wishing theyd seen something they didnt.

But who won?

.... that it was actually the piston that broke, and was shot out of the engine at high speed, thus detaching his hand at the wrist. Ouch.

if you shift the warp drive magnifications to 47.3gm you can CLEARLY see that the translexorant capasitatron is malfunctioning from reduced aerodynamic defficiencies... (hold for applause)

Right ... im pretty sure i've figured out what happened. The best way to analyse the video is to open it in media player so you can play it in slow motion.

Firstly, there is a moment after the explosion where he holds his injured hand over the white seat area. Your can see that he is actually still wearing his glove, and hence still has his hand. First part solved ...

Therefore, what was the glove like looking object i hear you ask. Well, for a start it isn't a mirror...why would a drag bike have a mirror. I think i'd be more concerned about whats ahead at 180-200mph.

As the bike falls over look at the front fairing (where the lights usually are) ...you can see a hole in it. This is what came off the bike and looks like a glove. Why does it look like a glove ... because a) the video quality isn't too good b) its the same colour as his/her glove, and c) and most importantly ... thats what we wanted to see...:)

its clearly the mirror cause if u play it falling to the ground over and over you can see a shine from the reflection

You can clearly see that nothing came thru the tank. the entire tank itself lifted up off the frame. A nitrous hiccup expolede under the gas tank.

it was a nitrous hiccouph... the thing thru his hand wus a piston and no it didnt go thru his hand, it did take a nice chunk of his forearm off but he recovered

freeze the video after the pop, you'll see that he has no hand. He was wearing black gloves so its easy to tell if it was there or not

That would be a piston blowing out the cylinder in this video. its the reason kevlar vests are now required to be worn by the bike racers also.

Damn that had to hurt.

then you'd know that was the clutch malfunctioning, (bursting, popping, whatever) There's only so much tension aclutch cable can maintain. Either that or the handle bars were made of some type of plastic!

I'll save it to see it again twice is enough for one day

im pretty sure it was a piston that smacked into his hand cause if u watch closely u can see it come up from under the fuel tank. and since those bikes r so highly tuned a slight malfunction that would cause next to no trouble in a standard engine is enough to send a piston thru the fuel tank. its the same as top fuelers, funny cars, doorslammers etc. y do u think the cars hav straps over the blowers. if something went rong u wouldn't want a 50kg lump of metal flying over 50 meters into the air it could b a little dangerous.
btw he would b lucky to get out of that with only major bruising but it probably broke his hand.

Depending on how the engine was mounted. Maybe a spark plug was not torqued down correctly and got loose from the vibration of the engine, and right at launch the compression / combustion phase probably blew the spark plug out which caused the fuel tank part to pop up and hit his forearm and also the bang noise and the flame at the end . JMO (Just MY Opinion)

Look at the vid again. At the end of the vid, you will see the
front of the gas tank blow open, a tic before his hand is hit.
It could have been a turbo turbine, but the engine would still be
running if the turbine exploded (maybe).

Looks llike a wrsit pin or main bearing failure of one of the pistons.

i dont think it came from the hadle bar it looks like it came from inside but its to fast to see

coming off, though something obviously hurt his hand when it blew off, whatever it was.

i think that was the turbo blowing up and taking the clutch mechanisium and handle bar grip comming off

Was that his hand getting blown off there? It happened so quick I couldn't tell for sure. Could that have been a mirror maybe. For his sake I hope it was the mirror. Before I get flack from some meathead, Drag Bikes do have mirrors.
