    Why do people that have no idea continually try and teach others? EdmundasJ, you are logged into your computer as an administrator, you have RIGHTS to change passwords... Try creating 2 non admin accounts, login as one and try to change the password of the other with the Net User command.

    Go to Start --> Help & Support --> type in "NET USER" in the search box.

    • This is NOT cracking.

      This is NOT cracking. Cracking involves changing or learning passwords that you don't have access to, either because you're NOT an administrator on the machine or you don't even have a machine account.

      You could just as easily go to the "User Accounts" Control Panel entry and change passwords there.

      A real trick would be to show how to recover a lost administrator password. It involves mounting the drive on another PC on which you *do* have administrator rights and then brute-forcing the SAM registry.

      Ok, good, you can change the password from the command line. You can show this trick to your friends and I am sure they will be impressed.

      However, Ziggenx is correct.

      If you really want to change the local passwords, it is as simple as downloading the tool from http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/.

      If you can touch the computer, you can own the computer. So remember to lockup your servers and other gear.
