You know whats funny! The drone plane they show at the end of this video is more than likely what played in the role of hitting the pentagon. Do yur homework and you'll see what I'm talking about. I used the m-107, but we call it AG-90b, when I did my first military service tour, in 99/00,... so... to call it a new weapon for the future..? interesting... sure makes you wonder what more super weapons they have in stall for us in the future..... a "new" super silent weapon,.... and with no muzzle flash,.... that they like to call,... Those bolt action rifles he so hates happen to be far more accurate than any automatic or semi-automatic rifle with moving components.
Can't really immagine a sniper shooting for miles long with a gas operated rifle... really.

Admittedly, it's a pretty impressive weapon. However it is not a true snipers weapon because it is too bulky, too cumbersome and too heavy. It is best used in a support role from an embedded position. Try lugging this thing around all day and then setting up a sniper position. Its advantage lies in the fact it is very intimidating, as mentiond, get hit by a 50 cal. round and you won't be getting up again. This is a classic case of using a sledgehammer to crack an egg.
Fact: the Americans do not make the best sniper rifles in the world, the British do. For real world sniping, the Accuracy International 338 Lapua Magnum cannot be beaten.

There is so much cost with flying auto 50 cals. I have read this design has been out for a long time. Gov't has a thing called "red tape" and it DOES literally take several decades sometimes even when something is needed. This gun is very common sense and long overdue. how many know about the 60s fighter jets flying today and still called "the latest in technology and design" f16,f15,f18 all 1960's (That is just another example). Maybe the hummer will get a replacement it badly deserves someday. As guns aren't used all that often, machines that move are always doing something in the military. Awesome gun!

This gun has been around for a good 20 years. Though this iteration has it's improvements, it's far from being a futuristic weapon.

The M107 was originally built in 1982 and designated the M82. By 1986 Barret had an improved model that was originally bought by the Swedish Army in 1989. The US Army bought small quantities of the weapon for Desert Storm.

The M107 is the latest incarnation of the M82 is one that has a successful bullpup configuration.

Think this rifle is the biggest and badest...check out the Barrett XM-109 25mm Payload rifle. I believe a .50 cal round is somewhere in the neighborhood of 12mm...

Serbian Army has "same" domestic (Made In Serbia), with same caliber (0.5 inch = 12.5mm) same range(2.5Km) at least since year 2000. It is named "Black Arrow" And here thay say US army made this weapon in 2005??
