Michelin Offers Tire Safety Videos Online and a Chance to Thank Local Safety Providers

Michelin has been recognized by J.D. Power and Associates for unmatched customer satisfaction every year since the tire awards began, but for all of its product superiority, there are some things that even Michelin can't do, like check the tire pressure and tread wear on your vehicle every month.

Michelin marks the beginning of National Tire Safety Week, April 22-28, 2007, by encouraging drivers to keep tire maintenance top of mind during the upcoming summer travel season and throughout the year. Michelin will also kick-off year two of Michelin's Driving America's Safety program for first responders on April 23 as part of its broader tire safety awareness and education campaign that will run throughout the summer and fall.

  • Rear wheel drive

I would not know about the model or make of the car but the white one as shown is very definitely rear drive vehicle. Just watch the rear wheels spin at a mush higher rate than the front ones when it is trying to pull put of the fishtail skid.

Front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, you drive differentely depending on what type of traction you have, not because you put tires there or here.

I've noticed most of the comments on here are stupid or unknowlagable. I would recomend that you listen to the video if you can't think of a reason not to. If, however, you want to actually drive the car(that requires turning off abs and traction control) you will ignore the video and read about suspension settings on your car.

ps I have found that you cant actually drive a toyota truck, the vsc et al gets in the way, so if you have one just give up....

  • Not sure, but...

Not sure, but I think new tyres at the front would make more sense for a front wheel drive. The cars shown in the video look like rear wheel drives, because when the white car is drifiting, you can see both the front and rear tyres, and the back ones wer gng faster. And on the blue car, while drifiting, he changed the direction of the front tyres... this kind of drift is normally done by RWD.
So, if you were driving a FWD and you come to a turning on a wet road, even if the back tyres loose abit of grip you can increase speed at the correct gear and the front. If you think differently, please let me know. Thanks

The video is correct!, old school of thought was better tires on the front for safer steering, but as this shows, for stability reasons if given the choice the rear tires must be in better condition...ask the ford explorer owners when their rear tires blew out and lost control, some lost their lives, it was a major lawsuit

  • OK Interesting

This is hydroplaning while cornering ...what about brakingdistanse, how well the tyre picks up speed on snow and gravel, and what about 4x4 wehicles and those with stabilitysensors ?
