The mystic tube slows down the falling.
It takes three times longer to fall through the alu tube than the plastic tube.

Antigravity Tube

  • This is known as eddy current braking

The magnet creates electicity as it falls through the metal tube which then acts as a frictionless brake upon the magnet. If you get a magnet out of an old disc drive you will have a very powerful neodymium magnet. Drop it through a length of 22mm copper pipe and amaze everyone with it.

    • Um, okay

Interesting, but has no bearing on a video featuring an aluminum tube. The video is just lame - provide an aluminum tube and a plastic tube with identical internal diameters and prove that they're both smooth inside and then we'll talk.

    • Anti-gravity?

After that video we need an anti-crap video device installing in Metacafe.

whether it's aluminum or copper doesn't matter as long as the metal has at least some magnetic properties.

    • Not magnetic

Actually aluminum and copper do not have magnetic qualities at all. Magnets do not stick to either, which is why it seems surprising why a magnet will slow down in them. It is due to the metals being conductors which cause an electric field which in turn cause a secondary magnetic field other than the magnet which the magnet interacts with which slows it down. This effect can be very impressive with a copper pipe and a very strong magnet. It you look down the pipe as it falls it may look as if it is tumbling in slow motion as it falls.

  • physics

Have you herd of a little thing called physics and a little thing called lenz's law. The metal doesn't have to be magnetic it only has to be a strong conductor. The stronger the conductor the stronger the eddy current and the slower the magnet moves. Hint on why plastic pipes don’t work.

  • No, no, your all wrong

It's just plain magic, any fool can see that! Just ask David Copperfield.

  • I havn't watched it yet

But reading the description I assume its some sort of magnetism.

    But we'll see

  • It's not sticking..........

to the pipe. When a magnetic field passes over a conduting metal, it forces electron to move through the metal. This is how the electricity you use in your house is made. And electrical current produces a electro magnetic field. So when the magnet is passing through the tube it's creating a EMF field and slowing it's own self down because the magnet is reacting to the current. Copper pipe works better for this trick. It's not anti gravity, it's magnetic fields.
