Today on this 2009 Toyota Tundra we will be installing fifth wheel brackets and rails part number V55151R. The first thing we want to do in preparation to installing our fifth wheel brackets is to go ahead and remove the EPA canister that is the unit here that we are looking at. It is almost directly above the axle. There is one nut on the out board side of the frame that is holding that on. Go ahead and remove that nut. We will also need to remove the nut off this side as well. To get the EPA canister off from the inside. :34

Now that we have got the canister removed you just want to go inside the bed now and we are going to set up our bed rails. We have actually got a pre-installed fifth wheel head assembly already set up that we are just going to put in here and then we will align them to the dimensions that we need them to align them with. And now we are just going to set up the front rail for the dimensions that are given in the directions. :52

What we are looking for is from the back edge of this rear rail to the end of the bed is going to be 29 3/ 4 inches. And then when we have got that set to 29 3/ 4 we just want to make sure they are centered in between the wheel wells as well. Now that we have got the rails set up front to back and even side to side we can go ahead and mark out our holes. At the rear rail we are going to be using the second hole in. And at the forward rail will be using the outer most hole. I do want to note that when we mark out our holes that here at the rear rail you want to go ahead and mark directly in the center of our square hole here. And with the holes marked we can go ahead and pull the saddle assembly and the rails back out and go ahead and drill our holes. I am going to start by drilling with 1/ 8 inch bit and then we will go ahead and enlarge to our 5/ 8 ths bit. You do want to make sure before you start drilling that you do not have your lines or that you do not have any of you items underneath the bed that you could possible drill into. And with the holes drilled in the bed we can go ahead and put our rails back into place. And then in between the upright portion of our bed rail in the bed itself we want to place these 3/ 4 inch spacers directly over the hole and we can our 5/ 8 hex bolt with the lock washer and the flat washer down through the holes. We want to do that in all four positions. 2:27

And then also in between the bed and the frame we will be ing these spacer tubes as well. And then you will note that we also have these longer bed corrugation spacers. What these are designed to do is keep the bed from collapsing when we go to tighten the bolts down. And you can see the same hex bolt here on the inside of the frame. We are going to be using the large block with the threads in it and it also has a little tab on the side of it. We want the tab facing down. That will work as a catch when we start tightening the bolt. Essentially you just want to place that over that and go ahead and thread it on my assistant in the bed is going to do it for me. We are just going to repeat that process for all four bolts. And with all the spacers and blocks into place we can go ahead and back into the bed and torque our bolts down. You want to check with the directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each of the bolts. With the bolts torqued down we just want to make sure we put our fuel canister back onto the side of the frame and put our spare tire back up into place and our installation will be complete. There you have it for part number V55151R on a 2009 Toyota Tundra.
