  The centrifugal force in the washer rremoves the water in the dryer like wringing. Tumbling in the dryer makes for drying whatever in a flow of warm air I not letting them rest in place to develop crease on anti crease clothes.
  
  I have seen dryiers that have built in shelf on the door for just this purpose - drying the shoes without the rubber parts (soles) touching the hot metal drum.

  er.. yeah.. actually.. drying clothes by using centrifugal force is what your washing machine does on spin cycle. You dryer doesn't spin at anything even closely resombling that speed, and wouldn't work if it did. The heat in your dryer dries your clothes, the spinning of your dryer is to tumble the clothes in order to allow the humidity that is evaporating out of your clothes to escape. without the tumbling to aerate your laundry, it could literally take days to remove that amount of humidity. The spinning is all about the air flow and nothing more, trust me.
