The Blue Angels In Flight

  • Red Arrows VS Blue Angles

Ive never seen the Red Arrows and I dont claim to know any fancy facts about who trained who or who gets their manuvers from who and I also dont claim to be some fancy pilot. All I can say with 100% certainty is that those pilots have skill and they have worked very hard to get this far. I think they deserve some respect. Aslo I higly doubt that a RAF pilot would waste his time to go on metacafe and create an account just to bash the Blue Angles. Anyone with a military background in the US or the UK would know this so STFU.

    • Totally agree

Thanks for the balanced view! It's nice to see a comment from someone who does'nt feel that they have to make others look dumb so they can look smart.

Very great performance. Such high G-forces, close formations and being in sync must be fun!!! The afterburner was way awesome, but that turn he did while doing it seemed like he hit at least 4 or 5 G-forces

  • No sense in arguing.

I have great respect for the Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, Canadian Snowbirds, and the Red Arrows. There is a Japanese team, as well, but I can't remember the name right now.

They are all prime examples of the level of training consistent throuhgout all of the pilots in their respective air force. The difference is these performers were taken and refined through many months worth of practice to bring a show full of "snap and pop" to the crowd.

The different performers present their shows differently, and even today's performers have been limited only by the machines they use. Even the Blue Angels weren't as hot looking as they are today when they had A-4s at their disposal.

Besides, I would like to bring another contender to the table. While I like all of these guys, none are really my favorite. The Red Baron Squadron has to be the most satisfying performance team I've seen at any airshows. It's just like they're announcer will tell you, "They can do anything the Blue Angels can do, just slower!"

Having my mind more soundly grounded in grassroots flying, the sound of 4 450 hp radial engines with props singing always beats any number of jet engines screaming and howling at the crowd.

    Just my opinion.

  • g-suits

If you see the sections of the clip inside the cockpits where the pilots are grunting, it's because they are pulling such high G-forces without any help from a G-suit. The reason is a G-suit keeps blood from rushing out of your head by inflating air bladders around your thighs and abdomen. However, with the close formations these guys fly, the bladders inflating could bump the stick and cause problems in formation. The grunting of the pilots is part of the anti-g straining maneuver where pilots tense all the muscles in their lower body to force the blood back into their head to keep from blocking out. To breathe while doing that you have to use short 'hics' to keep your lungs from deflating completely and not being able to get any air into them.

  • This Works.

The wayyy-coool back-beat of this piece underscores the triumph of our folks overhead. That's it. Five minutes before I started pushin' poop into my diaper, circa 1962, these gents (then) flew types of craft to ensure that I, in April 1962, was reared in the Land of The Free, and the Home of The Brave. Thankyou. Stephen.

    • Your pathetic

Hi there ick. My Father is in the Red Arrows display team (Red 5) and I too am in the RAF currently a eurofighter Pilot at Conningsby for just under 6 months now. You'r post was both insulting and absolute rubbish!!!! It's so much rubbish in fact that to proove it wrong I know that the Red Arrows actually send the aerobatical manovours manual to the Blue Angels and have in the past trained your intial Blue Angels to perform Aerobatical Manovours. I do very much beleive that this must surely proove that you blues aren't the best!!! I mean you can't even perform some of the manouvers that our Reds have trained you on and so you have about 10 different aerobatical manouvers you perform while WE reds have at least 40 minimum of which all are Surperb!!!!!!!!!!! You Suck!!!!! And the Blues are not bad at all it is true!!!! Good thing they dont have you in their Military

    • Red 5 ??

As the pilot of red 5 is only 33(ie your dad) your very young to be flying a eurofighter (typhoon) also I would find it alarming that you could be in that job ..when you can't spell.

I would not like to say who is best the reds or the blue angels..both are great!

    • And how would you know...

...that Red 5 is flown by a 33 year old. Anyway, about the spelling comment, you aren't that good with YOUR Grammar and Punctuation (eg: eurofighter typhoon - Eurofighter Typhoon.

  • Near perfection

I have had the priveledge of seeing 6 such demonstration flights. And left each one in awe of the skills.
The level of concentration and skill needed to fly that way is awesome.
I can't wait to see what they will be capable of when they start flying F-22 Raptors with thrust vectoring. It will be the ultimate in acrobatic shows.

    • blue angels

I used to live next to Corry Field in Pensacola Florida USA in the 70's and my siblings and I would watch these brave men practice these maneuvers almost every day. I had my own airshow there! Thanks for the great video! I think they still train at Pensacola. My father was a pilot in the Navy.

  • very skilled pilots

They are very skilled pilots and must have worked very hard to prepare the show. I like it. I've seen same air shows with Red Arrows - they are also very good.

why was the a laugh at the beggining?

By r1ccardo 1135698250 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Where was the laughter?

Where did you hear the laughter? What time? There is a spot near the beginning where there is a sound that's part of the music soundtrack. There are also some voices during parts of the tape that are just crowd noise.
