    The russian army is in fact very brutal and dissatisfying. They do get these dumbasses to work for the army and thats why russia's count of people are dying every year, not growing, either like this, or in chechnya. Since most of them are conscripts they have no choice but to either die like this, go to chechnya or somehow survive these brutal rules. I am a russian and ive seen this happen a lot of times, our boys are dying out there because of these dumb instructors that they pick and chechnya.       Makes you think, these russian soldiers are beeing trained to become cannon fodder (suicide missions). I saw a documentary where in ww2, the russian commanders gave the grunts 2 choices, either die in combat or be gunned down by the senior officers. No planning, no strategy, just throw as many bodies at the enemy as possible. Human life should never be treated so cheaply.

Officers were at the rear and told the men that if they retreated, their machine gunners would open fire on their flanks, this resulted in the slaughter of many good men

      If Russian Army is strong, then why the hell did they get their #$% handed to them in World War 1 and 2. And if you read the history, history is written to make the country look good (if some country writes information about themselves, of course the country will write the books to make them look good), but in fact that Canada had a "major" part in helping to win both wars (yes I know people who fought in both wars and I have talked to them about it and they would agree with what I have said about the Canadians). Also, what makes a good training is the money and different countries can spend different amounts to train the soldiers. Also, every army of a country has its flaws. Some of them are more easily noticed then others, but still every army has a flaw.

      1- The solders are sent to capture, lets say, a village.
      They go thear with old suplys (Suplys that are, teoreticly, don't exist anymore).
      The guys that are responsibles tell to the autoritys that the solders are fully equiped with brand new supplys.
      2- Now, when they captured the village, they are ordered to retreive and be not far frome that it.
      3- They get more old supplys and new solders to take the place of those those that were dead in last raid.
      4- The enemy brings reenforcement, setting new traps, they know that those creazy russians will return.
      5- "read #2"
      6- "read #3"
      7- "read #4"
      ...
      In that caos, the "Big guys" give those old supplys to ther "enemy" to in exchange to drugs (heroin, cocain, crack, ...)
      ...
      When old supplys are finished, they order toups to retreive definetly and are ending the war.

      Because they told the autoritys that, in that combats, they gave new supplys to the solders, they think it was lost in the battle.
      ...
      Now all that they have to do is to sell tons of drugs and billions of dolars in brand new supplys to the buyers that are allready weating for it!
      ...
      I agree that it is very cruel and unfair. But it's the life, and we can't do anything abbout it, even if we try very hard until some boddey kills us because we are becoming too annoyng.

    I'm in the U.S. Military stationed in Alaska. About 3 months ago we went to Russia to train a branch of the Russian Military. Everything seemed normal other than their members seemed really quiet and kind of on-edge. One evening we were trading American items for Russian items (it was big to trade things in Russia) when one of their officers noticed a Russian trading his hat for one of ours. The officer took the troop in a back room where we only heard a lot of wrestling. The next time we saw the guy, he was very beaten up.

    It always seemed to me that the russian army is "a bit" cruel.I mean not only during operations but also in rescue attempts (like the tragic theatre operation in moscow). These secenes tells me why.. The first goal for a soldier is not to kill! A soldier should be a life saver. He should use the initiative to kill only to save others.These training sessions create psychopaths not soldiers. I am Turkish and I served in one of the most diciplined armies in the world and never seen or heard of this kind of training even in elite troops. I have seen soldiers carrying wounded terrorists that we have been fighting for over 15 years (PKK) at their back.. Giving almost 50.000 casulties and still treating your opponent as a human is what should be shown on this site...

    Two things to say:
    1) hazing isn't only a russian phenomenon. IFor our High school soccer team, we did a lot of the stuff seen in the video... minus the flying jump kicks. It instilled a sense of hunger in us and made us closer. Yeah, while we were going through it, it sucked. But, looking back it made us a better and tougher team.

    2) At least the people were doing front snap kicks-- a fast, but weaker kick. People in the video might have gotten really messed up if they were side kicked, axe kicked, or round house kicked.

    you can't take the heat stay out of the kichen. These are not conscripts, they are voluteers, and they want to be toughest thing in uniform, well you don't get tough from strolling in the park. When they go to combat they have to survive cruel conditions, and unlike SOME armies, you don"t get a ticket home for being hurt, you have to tough it out. They also don"t have congessional committees and a mamby pamby press where they can cry their grievances, they are SOLDIERS and are conditioned to endure, if they are sent on a mission that training will come in good stead.

Recently President Putin interceded in a case where a recruit was made to sit in a painful position for four hours, then kicked so badly he got gangrene in his legs. He lost his legs. Then he lost his genitals. More Russian solders die in hazing each year now than during any period of combat in any year since 1952 (when Stalin died). The problem is a total lack of discipline. Something some other countries can learn from too, when they give out weapons and immunity.

    The above statements are correct. Those were paratroopers. Try and understand the function they serve. They are flown in and dropped from the air and fall VERY slowly into a seething hotbed of action. Generally they come down with a shot or two in their leg already. And they still have to fight off the enemies and stay alive. It's hard to function through pain. When you get hurt your body generally makes you accept and give up. The training is to beat the people and make their bodies take and keep functioning.
