Today we are going to review the One Delta Recumbent slash Trike Bike Carrier, part number R2TK1DELTA. This is a unique bike rack in that it can carry both recumbent trike bicycles and trike bicycles. This bike rack is fully adjustable, both side to side and front to back. And it features cradles for all three wheels. This bike rack can be inserted into a 2 inch hitch using either the standard pin and clip. Or, we recommend using either a stabilizing pin or a hitch lock, one similar to the 63232 from Tow Ready that we feature here. 0:30
Now, let us go ahead and take a closer look at our bike rack. We will show you not only how to load it up, but how to adjust it as well. To adjust for varying wheel base trikes, this bike rack can be moved in and out with relative ease. By releasing these two bolts here, we can pull this channel out. And then by loosening these two bolts here, we can adjust the rear one. You can also adjust the cradles to allow for different wheel spacings. Again the same principle here, we have bolts holding them down. And they can move fully in and out on the channel here. You can see that that gives us four different points of adjustment for our particular trikes. We are going to go ahead and put one on now and show you how to strap it down. 1:26
To properly set up the spacing of our bike rack, we need to take the measurements of our trike itself. You need the spacing of the wheel base as well as the width of the rear tires. The wheel base measurement, we basically want to take from the center of the rear wheel forward to the farthest edge of the rear tire. So once we get our measurements taken, we can go ahead and adjust our bike rack accordingly. And then we are ready to put our trike into place. Two people can easily install the trike onto the bike rack. But, if you do not have a second set of hands, you can do it by yourself as well. To do that, we just want to take the front tire and set it into place. You can use the strap to hold it on for us. And then we can come to the back of the trike and go ahead and lift up the rear wheels. And set those into the cradle. From there we just want to make sure that we strap all of our wheels down. And you are ready to transport your recumbent trike. For added protection, we have a 1/4 inch pin hole at the end that we can add a cable lock to. That will help keep your trike safe if you are going to be leaving it. There is an extra 1/4 inch pin hole here that we can use to add a pad lock to. And you can see it works great in a recumbent trike, or for a trike bike as well. And that will conclude the review of part number R2TK1DELTA.
