Lindsay Lohan is sobering up in rehab right now, but when she gets out she won’t have her infamous Linda Lovelace role anymore. E! News broke the story saying the director was all for the actress back in June, but is now singing a different tune.

“Today he says quote, ‘We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan. We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support.’”

But Lohan doesn’t see it quite the same way – she’s saying it was her choice.

“Linds is denying she was canned from the project insisting she quit on her own. Her rep says ‘Lindsay is dedicated to her recovery and together they decided to move forward without her.’”

And although she was all set to star in the movie – many people were surprised by the role in the first place. Rob Shuter of PopEater told Hoda and Kathie Lee - Lindsay just didn’t have many options.

“A movie about a porn star. Everybody was sort of concerned about this. It was an odd choice, although Lindsay wasn’t actually getting that many offers.
SHUTER - “So I think it’s just weird. Like the girl needs to go away, get well.”
GIFFORD – “She need to heal and get her demons under control.”

Lindsay was once a very talented young actress and had a lot of potential. So why isn’t she getting many offers? Fox News has the details on why Lohan has been deemed “too high risk” quoting director Matthew Wilder.

“Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her, and some other issues, have made it impossible for us to go forward.”

But a blogger for the Salt Lake Tribune says this could be just what Lohan needs to clean up her image – a movie about a controversial porn star doesn’t exactly scream clean and sober.

“Hard to know who's getting the better end of this deal… it could also be good news for Lohan, whose road to personal and image recovery is already tough enough without a tabloid-bait movie role about a tormented porn star. Lohan may have dodged a bullet here.”

The movie will now star actress Malin Ackerman known for her roles in “27 Dresses,” “Couples Retreat,” and “The Proposal.”

So should Lohan stick to focusing on her recovery and forget acting for a while? Or do you think this would have been her opportunity to prove she’s still an actress?
