installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Today on this 2002 Ford F-250 we are going to install part number 20110 from Tow Ready. This is Tow Readys fifth wheel or gooseneck 7 way tow harness. Basically what this does is act as an extension of your factory 7 way that is at the bumper of the vehicle, gets routed up underneath the vehicle to the side of the bed of the truck. This part is the 7-pole itself, it gets installed on the side of the bed. We are going to start off by making our hole in the side of the bed. :24
To do that, we are going to use a hole saw that matches the connector itself. You can see that the hole saw right here is bigger than the circumference right here. In the bed itself, we are going to use a 2 inch hole saw to do it with. We are going to take the end that plugs below, and just poke it all the way through and push it out the bottom. Then we will take the other half of the connector and snap it into the 7-pole side unit it clicks, and push our lock into place. We will get it straight and add our self tapping screws to hold it in place. 1:12
Lets go underneath the truck now, and run our wire out to our connector underneath. We are going to route our harness just over the frame, it will come out by the factory electrical harness. We are going to route this down to our factory 7-pole at the bumper here. We are going to take that apart, it is just like the original connector we did before. We are going to pull off this little gray lock, disconnect it, and our wire harness is going to basically T in. We are going to use a small screw driver to release the gray safety latch. Push down the catch for the latch, and just back it off. This latch has been on here for a few years so you may need to spray some lubricant on there. Take that latch off completely. It is a little easier to take apart that way. There is a latch in the middle here, you just have to push down on that and pry it apart. We have some dirt worked in there so you probably need to clean that out. Then we will stick our new harness in the back of that. Then reinstall our latch. Then we will go back to the other half we disconnected and do the same thing again. 2:45
We will plug these two together. This does not have a safety latch, but it still latches together. Then we will just push it up and out of the way. With that hiding under the bumper there, we will take the rest of our wires and bundle them up, nice and neat out of the way. What we will do is follow the factory harness and attach to that. We have our separate harness here, we will zip tie it to our main harness. With that, that already finishes our install of part number 20110 from Tow Ready.
