MUSICIAN PETER NERO SERVES AS HONORARY CHAIR OF 2007 RECORD-A-THON AT THE PHILADELPHIA UNIT OF RECORDING FOR THE BLIND & DYSLEXIC

Grammy-award winner lends his name and support to help students with print disabilities

Acclaimed pianist and conductor of the Philly Pops, Peter Nero, served as honorary chair of the 2007 Record-A-Thon at the Philadelphia Unit of Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D). RFB&D is a nonprofit organization and the nation's educational library of recorded textbooks for students with visual impairment, learning disabilities or other physical disabilities that make reading standard textbooks difficult or impossible.

During a visit to RFB&D's recording studio outside of Philadelphia, Nero met with staff, volunteers and members to discuss the process of recording audiobooks; learned how to use RFB&D's digital playback equipment; and even took time out to perform a few jazz numbers on a keyboard that is used to record musical textbooks for RFB&D members.
