or you can just click the right mouse button -> change name.....

    By epixpls 1180647190
    • Sure about that?

Have you tried it? Default registry settings don't let you, you'd need to change a different value first. There are a few videos that show you that already.

  • may be stupid question

why i hack my own computer?

    By seco201 1179577530
    • Hacking doesn't only mean breaking in.

In this case, this is content that Microsoft didn't deem worthy of easy access. I'm showing you how to navigate the minefield of registry editing to do this without breaking other things.

  • Long way round!!

Just right slick on your recycle bin and click "rename".

    By windows grim reaper 1178933232
    • That works, if...

Well, putting that rename option on the Recycle Bin requires a registry edit in the first place. It does have the benefit of being in the TweakUI set of registry edits, while this one does not. But we've got two or three videos about that already, and none that did this.

  • Provide a suggestion

if you guys can suggest a good screen capture software, I can make some pretty awesome ones too...

    By anonymous333 1178694127
    • also

Hypercam also works good but there are a few catches...
First, you'll have to experiment with fps and sound controls
Second, it makes your computer slower if ur playing a vid or something (this could just be my crappy computer tho)

    • There's a few

Camtasia is wonderful, but the price tag puts it out of reach for my home use. This one got created with Quick Screen Recorder, but it's a beast to get configured to not S**king . At least on my hardware, the default settings recorded an AVI without any video recorded. Then there were issues with audio lagging about 15 seconds behind the video, choppiness, and once I'd gotten it all working, Metacafe didn't recognize the file I was trying to upload until I converted it into a .wmv.

  • thankx man,,,

    but its not working....

    da name remains da same...

    By gourishankar 1178675753
    • Not working?

That's strange. Have you refreshed your desktop? Either right-click and select Refresh, or hit F5. The Registry automatically saves all changes immediately.

The other possibility is that you don't actually have registry editing permission. Try going to C:Windows, and right-click on regedit.exe. Select Run as Administrator, and follow the steps from there.

    By gonagone 1178550397
  • nice but why didn't you just...

run -> regedit -> Ctrl+F (find) -> "recycle bin" -> change default to whatever you want?

FYI for those who don't know
and well changing the registry may sometimes cause problems in the future but i guess recycle bin changes are pretty much harmless

    nice post though (4 stars)

    By greenelephant 1178474041
    • Doesn't work.

Default is null string. I'm assuming the name then is kept in explorer.exe, but I'm not sure. It wouldn't show up in a search.
