I mean, sitting in the car you're driving, feeling it drift first hand and responding instinctively to control the drift is one thing, but just looking at the car and still managing to hold and control the drift is a totally different story! I wonder if these cars are RWD or 4WD?

You have to keep them 4WD or they are impossible to drive with the drift tyres on. There are many different drift tyres out there, some are hard rubber and some are plastic. A well set up RC car has so much traction and so little weight that it is very hard to drift on race tyres. It also depends on the surface.

well you can actually drift with any 4wd rc car. just get like tires with nearly no traction, or coat tires. well if you want one made for drifting then look for a company called yokomo on the internet or something

seriously wadup, its a lot effing harder than it looks, those guys cover the tires with pvc pipe to make it slide and its hard as hell to control, and to you others who think its underpowered and the grip, does it matter how fast their going? It's a well collaborated video, with rc cars, its fun not serious competitive rc drift, so shove off. lol

Drifting is BS. Its a waste of time and energy. They could make it around the track in half the time if they had decent tires.

Even if you had really good tires, you wouldnt be able to enter a turn at high speed. That'll just slow you down whereas if you drifted, you could enter a turn at a much higher speed...

When your tires slide, you lose time. You have to go slow to go fast. Drifting, even at a faster speed, won't get you around a corner faster. Plus more wear on the tires, and fuel consumption.

i've built and raced one of these in a competition for my old school, I have to agree that these tires are unbeleiveably crap and the drivers are just posers.
They should get tyres with a decent amount if grip which can handle at higher speeds and start drifing them at higher speeds and where its actually necessary.
Believe me, all the same "style" can be achieved in a much cooler way by having better grip and doing the same thing at higher speeds.
Those kind of cars can't generate enough power (either acceleration or braking) to drift using many normal methods like overpower and braking, and have no weight to be transfered, so there goes Scandinavian flick. Really the only option to do show type drift is slick tires. Show drift isn't about times and speed anyway.

The drivers were awesome ... they really did a great job controlling the cars. It's not easy to keep them driftting like this without hitting each other easily.
