The parents are unfit to have children, they can take you children away for striking them, but not for making them morbidly obese? The parents are CAUSING a LIFE-THREATENING condition for their daughter. Take the child away from them and get her to a family that will take care of her and worry about her health, obviously this one does not.
I totally agree, this child should be removed from her mother unless her mother is willing to get her some help! Absolutely Pityful.
this child has eating disorder. Her brain probably doesn't have the "I'm full" signal to trigger her to stop eating so she's always hungry. When I was little I didn't like to eat much even though there were plenty of food. Sometimes my mom had to force me to eat. And of course I can also eat whatever I want and never get fat.
The more you eat the more your stomach stretches, the longer it takes you to feel full. her mother lets her eat too much and she just keeps getting hungrier and hungrier, she's an idiotic mother. It seems she wants her child to die early because that's where she's headed. So sad.

It doesn't have anything to do with an "I'm full" signal. Eating unhealthy consistently throughout the day will put major weight on you.
Even if there wasn't a signal, which there is, your stomach can only hold so much. So, the food has to go somewhere.
if your brain doesn't have the "fullness" signal then you can eat until your stomach can't hold anymore. that's why a lot of people who've had that surgery to staple their bellies down to a smaller size will sometimes eat so much that they bust the staples out. the sensations from the brain and the stomach are two different things.

I agree. I never feel the "im hungry or thirsty" signal as strong as others and as a result I'm generally undernourished and dehydrated as eating/drinking is a last priority of mine. I also very rarely have a craving, which drives my bf crazy when picking meals.
This girl's parents definitely should have noticed this and stepped in much much sooner. They should be thrown in jail.
The morbidly obese need stomach stapling, and are you willing to be that disgusting little piggie's Mummy? HMMM? Miss Piggy probably needs to eat a lot more to sustain herself. The more you are used to eating, your stomach needs more food to fill it or you can feel faint and weak. I eat so little, my body needs only the minimum. She needs more and her Mommy probably thinks that's her way of showing that she loves Piggy. If Piggy dies, it is probably in her best interest. She will get to go Home where she won't be like that anymore.

I definitely think it's disgusting and her mother should bloody well know better. But at 7 years old, you can't expect a child to know what's right and what's not. If that is how they grow up, that is what they know. I suggest your little ''piggy'' comments should be directed at her mother for teaching her that bad habit.

And by the way, you need to at least take an Anatomy 101 class before you start making a diagnoses. By your post, you're showing what grade you're in.

Hey Gorgia butthead! How are you doing today? Let my college uneducated ass clue your ass in a bit. Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the body lacks sufficient thyroid hormone. Since the main purpose of thyroid hormone is to "run the body's metabolism", it is understandable that people with this condition will have symptoms associated with a slow metabolism. If my uneducated ass remembers correctly, those with a slow metabolism have a hard time keeping weight off and those like me with hyperthyroidism cannot keep it on. Don't let my screen name fool you Mr. ThinkIknowitall.

I agree, her comments toward a 7 year old child were uncalled for.
Even if they move her to another home, it would be incredibly hard to get her cooperation in shedding those pounds. I mean, she's probably been obese her entire life, so taking food away from her might make her angry...And seeing as how she gets around the house, I think exercise is outta the question.

but there are genetic disorders that can cause an uncontrollable urges to eat. it is the mothers fault for letting her daughter eat so much, but it could be that her hunger arose from other factors than being fed too much.
i remember seeing the english version, and it seemed that the girl was born with this hunger. unless the mom is lying or i remember wrong

If she wanted to fix it she would of fixed it easily.. i mean look at the child... She has eaten food that may pas 300,000 dollars.. so if she wanted to fix it it would of been for much less money.
I know that if she wanted to fix it, she could. The reason we (everyone who is commenting) are arguing is because she doesnt WANT to fix it. Thats the controversy over the story.

4) What other people eat in 1/2 a year, the girl consumes in ONE day
5) The mother gives the 7-year-old whatever she asks for, and the girl always asks for more
6) When the gril was a baby, her mom fed her countless bottles of milk, but she always cried for more
7) When the girl tries to dance (in her seat) after 2 minutes she's out of breath
8) Her mom ignores the doctors, saying "my baby just likes to eat--that's not at all bad"

You are absolutely right about saying nothing about genetics but look at Mummy. Apples do not fall too far from the tree. I apologize about calling her Piggy but I didn't catch her name. I think the most compassionate thing in the world for this kid is to go Home or Heaven as a lot refer to it. Her life will be nothing but misery as long as she is here. I do agree with a medical condition though. Only a very small percentage of folks all over the world suffer with morbid obesity, right? I liked your comment though. Only one that makes sense to me. :)

This is one of the cases where the mother is obese, so she feeds her child so much that it makes her feel better about her own size and weight.
She obviously has no maternal love for her daughter.
She simply wouldn't do what she is doing otherwise.
Also, where is the father? Single parent, overweight, feels insecure about her size. Wow, a shrink would have a field day.

That is a mean statement. Like the smart ones have said, it is a brain and/or genetic problem. Yes, Mommy does feed her a lot but she probably becomes unbearable when she cannot have the food. I wonder if Child Protection or you would say it would be criminal to give her amphetamines so maybe she loses the appetite, huh?

She has a diesese. I forgot what it was called but it corrupts the part of your brain that controls your appetite. I saw it in the news one day talking about the same girl. She gets hungry every 10 mins. It's actualy a very sad story. There was a reality show where the people doesn't feed her and only feeds her during a regular basis.
