Ground Resonance

  • Thats...

not ground resonance, its the 2 props working in oposite rotational pulls with each other creating a major imbalance of proportional upthrust of an angle of no more than 5 degrees..... Edition2, How to fly helecopters!

    • Whats that smell - oh its bullshit!!!

Sorry there is not one correct expression in your statement.

Its as if someone has terrets syndrome but instead of swearing says random techno bollocks instead!!

Still it got us all laughing in the crew room, look forward to your next 'outburst'

  • Ground resonance

This is what happens if ground resonance is not countered by the pilot. In this case the aircraft was tethered so no corrective action could be taken (only had to get airbourne to stop it!!)

This is occurs more often in aircraft with wheel rather than skid type undercarriage. funny enough a couple shagging on board could actually generate this result if their rhythm was at the right tempo!!

  • That looks about right

When you take two massive propellers and tie them down so they cant go up... well they well tear there way out of whatever is holding them down.

The only effect the 2 engine setup had was to make the body of the helicopter get stressed clockwise and counterclockwise at the same time... and its cheap alluminium body doesnt like being twisted.

I wonder though.... did the jet engines go under stress, from lack of air intake or from a cracked coolent pipe.

I think its a test!! well it was fail. go for another one

    • I think it's a test too.

The aircraft is strapped firmly down, and there appears too be imbalance on the rotors, causing severe torsional stress. No pilot would let it get so bad without shutting down.
As for the comments about going into battle in one of these, well, they've lost a few, but they've probably flown more flawless missions than any other helicopter.

  • oh right...

    its a model!

By Carper 1136117881 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • MODEL!?

USE YOUR HEAD! Look at it! It's a full size test helicopter! This is no model!

    • No...

I meant it was a model (full-sized!) to test the effects of that!

By Carper 1139697421 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • ye

It was probably a test to see how much stress the helicopter could take.

Hysteresis-I don’t know too much about helicopters but I think that the opposite rotating propellers is needed to stabilize the helicopter if they were both spinning the same way it would not me as stable.
But I may be wrong ;)
