      Peanut Butter works on hair too. It's kinda gross, but less gross than having gum in your hair. Just wash it out.

    So whats in the peanut butter that dissolves the stickyness from the gum? It must be the peanut oil.
    So what is it about peanut oil that makes it work?
    Can this be done with any other kind of oil?

      It has something to do with the oil. I know that WD40 also works very well maybe even better than PB, but peanut butter is more accessible than WD40. Other types of degreasing solutions should work as well.

    • One quick google later ....

      Use eucalyptus oil. It will be MUCH much better than any peanut oil, or detergent.
      Commercial chewing gum is hydrophobic; it is not water - soluble, but it more oil- based. AFAIK, it is made from petroleum products.
      The oil in peanuts will mix with it, but not with saliva. By dissolving in it, the oil will change the gum's properties of texture and attraction to other materials.
      I guess you could say that the gum "prefers" to stick to the oil, rather than to the hair.
      ...if it was me id put the trainer in the freezer then hit it :P
