  • I hope you like it

The intension of this post is to give people who have never read the Quran a little glimpse of its contents and also experience the soothing effect from hearing it recited in Arabic whether you understand it or not (widely expressed by muslims and non-muslims who listen to it).

Also I chose this particular chapter firstly to remind myself and then others, that we should not think that we will get away with injustice – yes to muslims and non-muslims alike - lets all reflect a little.

  • A quote from Gerd Puin

(Gerd Puin is one of the world’s leading specialist in Arabic calligraphy and Qur’anic paleography)

The Qur’an claims for itself that it is ‘mubeen,’ or clear, but if you just look at it, you will see that every fifth sentence or so simply doesn’t make sense. Many Muslims will tell you otherwise, but the fact is that a fifth of the Qur’an is just incomprehensible. This is what has caused the traditional anxiety regarding translation. If the Qur’an is not comprehensible, if it can’t even be understood in Arabic, then it’s not translatable into any language. That is why Muslims are afraid.

    • Gerd-R. Puin

The Quran is quite explicit that some verses of the text are clear in meaning but some are not clear in meaning (Quran Ch3, V7).

Puin seems to have completely ignored it in his assessment of the intelligibility of the Quran.

Puin clearly misleads with his statement on the issue of clarity. One can only question the validity of Puin’s grasp of and awareness of the text.

This issue is dealt with in much more detail just do a search on the internet if you are interested.

    • Thank you

The first time I've seen a considered response from someone who posts religious videos. Clearly you are an intelligent person.
How then can you not consider Islam (and all other established religions) as absurd as only a little study of it (or of any popular faith) will show it to be?
Have you read Richard Dawkins? I would strongly reccomend him to you.

    • Science

I am from a scientific background and i do not see Islam as absurd. In fact modern science is proving the Quran right as we advance in our knowledge.

There are many leading scientist who have accepted the Quran as the word of god eg

Keith Moore - Professor Emeritus, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, University of Toronto. Distinguished embryologist and the author of several medical textbooks, who at a conference in Cairo presented a research paper and stated:

"... It is clear to me that these statements must have come to Muhammad from God, or Allah, because most of this knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later. This proves to me that Muhammad must have be

    • Most scientists spurn all religions

A survey asked members of the National Academy of Sciences to indicate if they believe, disbelieve or are agnostic regarding the existence of God and immortality. Overall, 93 percent of the scientists either disbelieve or are agnostic on the existence of God (72.2 percent disbelieve), while 92.1 percent disbelieve or are agnostic regarding immortality (76.7 percent disbelieve).

    • Most Western scientists spurn all religi...

being the NAS based in N America, it is likely that these scientists are from a Christian upbringing. This could be the reason that they are agnostic today.

How many of them have been exposed to Islam?

I suspect if the same question had been asked to scientists of equal calibre with a muslim upbringing then we would have got the opposite result.

      another example:
T.V.N. Persaud Professor at University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada "It seems to me that Muhammad was a very ordinary man, he couldn't read, didn't know how to write, in fact he was an illiterate...

We're talking about 1400 years ago, you have some illiterate person making profound statements that are amazingly accurate, of a scientific nature...

I personally can't see how this could be mere chance, there are too many accuracies and like Dr. Moore, I have no difficulty in my mind reconciling that this is a divine inspiration or revelation which lead him to these statements."

    • Science

      one last example:
Joe Leigh Simpson Professor and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, USA
"... these Hadiths (sayings of Muhammad) could not have been obtained on the basis of the scientific knowledge that was available at the time of the 'writer'... It follows that not only is there no conflict between genetics and religion (Islam) but in fact religion (Islam) may guide science by adding revelation to some of the traditional scientific approaches... There exist statements in the Qur'an shown centuries later to be valid which support knowledge in the Qur'an having been derived from God."

    • Thankyou

thanks for your comments but this is not the platform for a debate, i have given my reasons for posting this video in an earlier comment. If a debate with muslims about Islam is desired then i suggest finding the nearest Mosque or maybe find a suitable platform on the net.

If Allah was going to use science to prove the Qur'an, then why not do it in a way that does not depend upon clever exegesis from the supporters of that argument? Rather, Allah could have done it in a way that was indisputable. For instance, why not predict TV with a verse such as: "Say: ‘Men shall watch images that move in a small box that stands in the corner of their dwelling.'" Or the moon landings: "Say: ‘Lo! And men shall walk upon the face of the moon, and plant a flag thereon.'" Do you see?

      Qur'an 21:33

It is He Who created the Night and the Day, and the Sun and the moon: all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its rounded course.

      A bit inaccurate for God!!!!

    • Qur'an 21:33

I am not an astronomer so I am not sure what is being implied here but the mention of orbits way before modern understanding is amazing.

I believe once science becomes fact then it will adhere to any scientific statements made in the Quran as for theory well they are just theories.

The Quran is mainly a source of spiritual purification so trying to get all the answers from the Quran is the wrong approach.

    • contd.

Verses such as these could have no argument against them, unlike the current situation, which requires a) a somewhat tortured exegesis of these "miracle verses" and b) a categorical insistence by those who interpret them that theirs and theirs alone is the right interpretation (often ignoring over 1,000 years of what previous Muslim scholars and interpreters have said.)

    • My final word

Now going back to your first point I would like to end this dialogue on my part with Quran CH3.V7 He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except God. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding.
