Transcript by Newsy**** BY TARA GRIMES You're watching multisource U.S. news analysis from Newsy Planned Parenthood is under fire after a video surfaced of a clinic manager in New Jersey helping two people posing as a pimp and a prostitute running an underage sex ring. Live Action, a youth-led pro-life group, released the video. AMY WOODRUFF, CLINIC MANAGER: “If they come in for pregnancy testing, um, s**t, at that point I’d still be. You never got this from me. Just to make all our lives easier. If they’re fourteen and under just send them right there if they need an abortion. Okay?” And when the man acting as a pimp asked about birth control… AMY WOODRUFF, CLINIC MANAGER: “Here’s the thing, too. If they’re minors, just tell them to put down that they’re students. Just..” FAKE PIMP: “Students.” AMY WOODRUFF, CLINIC MANAGER: “Yeah. Just kinda play along that they’re students. We want to make it look as legit’ as possible.” FOX Anchor John Stossel calls the manager’s actions “disgusting”. He points out - stuff like this only intensifies the pro-life/pro-choice divide. “Half the country thinks abortion is murder, so by giving them $300 million we’re forcing people who think it’s murder to pay for murder.” Ed Morrissey, a writer for the conservative blog Hot Air- agrees- saying the video proves places like Planned Parenthood “flout” laws meant to protect women and children. “Obviously, state agencies that exist to protect women and enforce the law aren’t doing their jobs... Congress needs to act to cut off public funding of Planned Parenthood entirely.” Many say Live Action’s timing in releasing the video is strategic. GOP Representative Mike Pence of Indiana and Senator David Vitter of Louisiana recently reintroduced legislation that would deny abortion providers federal funds under Title X family planning grants. But Salon reporter Alex Pareene says he thinks Live Action’s video is deceptive since it was edited. “These conservative undercover ‘hoaxes’ are best understood as an attempt to make their fantasies real. In order to make animate the world that they feverishly imagine, they must themselves become the unsavory characters with bad motivations that they enjoy thinking populate these hotbeds of degenerate liberal activity.” And Huffington Post reporter Jason Linkins points out- one employee in one Planned Parenthood doesn’t represent the organization as a whole. “Planned Parenthood may have a single staffer whose actions need to be called into question. ... Other than that, Planned Parenthood is an organization that, if it catches a whiff of some illegal activity, gets the FBI involved as quickly as possible...” Planned Parenthood has fired the manager from the video. The New Jersey attorney general is now investigating the incident. Get more multisource video news analysis from Newsy
