“...utterly unacceptable” (Fox Business)

“...a cop out. It’s a new low in political cowardice.” (Bloomberg)

“...I’m pretty disappointed in it ... Its a brutal attack, really...” (Democracy Now!)

Everyone seems to be really fired up about President Barack Obama’s new budget proposal for 2012. And depending on who you listen to or watch -- the vitriol is quick off the tongue.
The drama over proposed spending cuts has turned an otherwise pretty boring topic -- The Federal Budget -- into something that’s got folks fired up... Check out the headlines --

“One Chart to Rule Them All: the Obama Budget Apocalypse” (Doug Ross @ Journal)
“Obama To The Next Generation: Screw You, Suckers” (The Atlantic)
“Barack Obama's Budget For 2012: A Complete And Total Joke” (The Economic Collapse)

-- and that’s just scratching the surface. It’s clear: critics on the left and right aren’t sparing the Commander in Chief any punches. A writer for The Atlantic says, if you voted for Mr. Obama, he just screwed you over.

“...this president is too weak, too cautious, too beholden to politics over policy to lead … Like his State of the Union, this budget is good short term politics but such a massive pile of fiscal BS it makes it perfectly clear that Obama is kicking this vital issue down the road.”

The Economic Collapse blog agrees, and calls the president’s budget “a great work of fiction”.

“Is Barack Obama trying to play a joke on all of us? The budget that the Obama administration has submitted for fiscal 2012 is so out of touch with reality that it may as well be a budget for ‘Narnia’, ‘Fantasy Island’, ‘Atlantis’ or some other mythical land.”

And the editorial page for the Washington Times says...

“...Who does President Obama think he’s kidding? Mr. Obama‘s new budget is the latest installment in a series of proposals featuring flawed estimates based on unrealistic economic assumptions. It should be considered dead on arrival.”

But not everyone is blasting Mr. Obama. On Fox News, Democratic Representative Xavier Becerra believes the President’s budget proposal takes the drastic measures needed for the economy.

“...if you take a look at the President’s budget proposal, he took a lot of what the deficit commission recommended...what the President is saying is that we need to make tough choices. He’s making significant cuts in our direct spending, and he’s making significant cuts in our tax spending.”

And Bill Galston, former policy advisor to President Clinton tells the Huffington Post the budget is the key to “winning the future”.

“I think this budget is evidence that the President meant it in the State of the Union when he talked about a new emphasis on investing in the future...”

So will anyone be happy with the budget? Should they be?
