its a super saturated solution, so more sodium acetate than can be normally (at room temperature) dissolved in water is dissolved, so when something touches it all of the extra sodium acetate goes from being dissolved to precipitating and becoming solid...... or the person went to hogwarts..... i went there

Only now dealing with solid and not liquid, be careful how you warm it up (you want it to melt, not to burn)
You should try to remelt it back in the pan with a little bit of water so that you don't go over boiling temp.
I think this enters the cases of metastability. Only this product seems to be fairly stable.
Metastability is much harder to achieve with water but it's much faster and it would probably make a cool video :)4065247

Wouldn't putting it in the fridge cool it down too fast? Every time I've done it, I've had to wrap it in foil to prevent it from cooling down too fast...
what would happen if you put too much sodium acetate into the water and what would happen if the water was boiling?
I asked my science teacher if we could do this and he told me to find this out
if u put too much sodium acetate when its boiling, then it would not dissolve. It said it in the video. kinda. =P

- Incorrect
For starters, its spelled Francium and francium is highly radioactive, so it would kill you to be anywhere near it without proper protection. Secondly francium is an alkali metal, meaning it rapidly decays (explodes) when exposed to water. The largest cluster of francium ever found was 10,000 atoms, not 10. Besides, due to how dangerous and rare francium is, it would be near impossible to obtain it.

1/3 cup of sodium acetate
Heat, Mix, stick into freezer for 20 minutes
