I noticed you didn't use any layers or masks with this technique, but rather, you made all your adjustments directly onto the copy. My question is: if you make a mistake, or want to adjust the color you've already done, how are you going to go about it? Re-select everything with the polygon lasso tool?

personally, I prefer to use adjustment layers and masks because they're non-destructive and you can easily change colors and adjust the areas of the masks.
