  in the UK, you could pay with a Ã‚Â£1 or Ã‚Â£2 coin and (sometimes) still get change.
  
  Also, just because you only see him put in one coin, doesn't mean he didn't put in more. As long as he used every coin in his pocket and didn't get change, it still works.
