On May 26 2007, Slane Castle, Ireland, will be the setting for the second of four Red Bull X-Fighters contests this year. The crème de la crème of international FMX superstars will battle it out in a Celtic-themed contest to become the "High King" on two wheels against the spectacular backdrop of the castle’s magnificent grounds.
As in Mexico City, the elements of the show will be adapted to the location, and the brand new track set-up should present plenty of exhilarating new challenges for the riders. Ten of the world’s best freestyle motocross (FMX) athletes will be in for the ultimate challenge on a new and unique FMX playground: huge kicker ramps, dirt jumps as well as a quarterpipe never before seen in FMX.
Meanwhile, Ash will follow in the footsteps of U2 and the Rolling Stones by topping the bill of musical acts entertaining a sell-out crowd of 30,000 to give the event an open-air festival feel. The Blizzards, Director and Afro Celt Sound System complete the line-up in this stunning natural amphitheatre.
The competition is already hotting up, with 19 year-old Spanish sensation Dany Torres fresh from victory in the Monumental Plaza de Toros, and the legendary Travis Pastrana hoping to make a big comeback after missing out in Mexico. New French kid on the block Charles Pagès will be hoping to make an impact, and Jeremy Lusk from the US is the other debutant. Swiss Mat Rebeaud and Australian Robbie ‘Maddo’ Maddison will also be in contention.
