Are there more than 3 dimensions?. Some say yes, some say no. I am drawing there the HYPERCUBE; a cube that is impossible to imagine in a 3D world. This should give you some thinking.

    yeah,the 4D is time and movement :)

    • Nut-uh!

The second dimension is time! The fourth is width, the first is depth, the third is height. So saith the Lord.

But this guy was referring to an extra spacial dimension not temporal. While in relativity, time is a "dimension" or more accurately, space and time are a four dimensional phenomenon or hypervolume, it can still be legitimate to speak of other spacial dimensions - either including time or in a non temporal frame of reference.

      Cheers

Time and movement, Time starts at 1D.And we can move and we are 3D.

if we lived in a 2 dimentional world, a third dimension would be impossible to imagine. We live in a 3d world, maybe we're just cant move in the 4th one. however, i think this video doesnt explain this right because a drawing on paper can only show 3 dimensions.

This is the 4th spatial dimension

    • somewhat 3d?

There doesn't seem to be anything 4d about this at all. 2 cubes with relative corners connected still conveys a perfectly rational 3d structure.

Could someone explain why this is 4d?

  • interesting.....

That is some good brain food, although in modern physics it is considered that we do live in 4 dimensions, the 4th dimension being TIME. Stephen Hawking explains this in depth in his book 'A Brief History Of Time' and 'The Universe In A Nutshell'. Keep up the good work!

    • 3-d

We live in a 3 dimensional space world, and if we add time we get 4 dimensions. A paper is a 2-d surface so we can only draw 2-d objects on it. We can pretend to draw 3-d objects, this tecnique is known as descriptive geometry.

Theoretical physicists argue that the universe is made of 10 or 11 dimensions, in which the mathematical description of the universe gets highly symmetrical, but we can only 'sense' 3 spatial ones.

The construct made in the video exists only in abstract math and cannot be realized in this world. Maybe if you smoke a good one you could build this hypercube :)

      • Sorry, time is the 4th dimension...

Think of two parallel walls in your house. Each of the two walls is a 3-D object, just as each of the two cubes in the video are 3-D objects. If you took some string and connected the corners of one wall to the corresponding corners of the second wall, you would have 8 lines, again just like the video. Put simply, you’d be able to see the string! Even if the walls partially overlapped, you’d still be able to see [part of] the string. AND that string would exist in the same 3-D space that all other objects exist. Sorry, there is no 4th [spatial] dimension.

      • A four dimensional cube is also

known as a tesaract... google it.

By SubGenius23 1180941229 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
        • No

A teseract is the fifth dimension--gotten from literally bending the fourth dimention, which is time; allowing you to travel freely among the 1st, 2nd, 3rd,and 4th dimensions. An example of this is a wormhole. It bends time and space. Another, much better example. It's quite a distance from New York to Paris. A tesseract would literally "bend the map", and bring the two places together to make the distance shorter. Sometimes, a straight line is not the shortest way to an object. Warping space time is.

      • LOL

you should try drawing this when your mind can conceive things in 3D anyway the damn this keeps shifting perspective .... drives you nuts

        • I Know!

it keeps shifting perspective even though he colored the base! so im trying to see the same perspective that i saw before but i cant remember how to get it like that cuz im seeing in the other perspective and its really frustrating!! :) oh well i guess that happens to everyone

      • ok...this is what i think

do those lines exist?: yes and no

they dont exist cuz its impossible to do that off the paper.

yes they do exist otherwise we wouldnt live. those things connect every 3 dimentional thing together. but we just dont see them. now, what new questions does that bring up?

i wont answer cuz i probably cant but please, ask and i hope they get answered.

          • Mathematically speaking...

The number of dimensions doesn't matter, all the theories and such are the same, no matter if it's 1D, 2D, 3D, 72D or n-D. So, most of the things in math have to be proven in n-D. That's pretty neat but hard to imagine :P

ok guys if u really wanted to no the 4th dimension is time........we cant show time on paper though now can we? when we move we move through time and space so when we r in motion we move through a 4th dimension........we cant stay sittin in 4D though

there are more than 10 dimensions, scientifically proven, just ask your physics teacher

                  • this theory is garbage-riffic

so if i draw three cubes that are sorta interlaced with eachother, and connect them would that be five dimensional? also they spelled "which" like "witch". besides i could easily picture it, it would just look like a strange shaped, eight-sided figure. this video proves nothing except that the person obviously practiced drawing cubes a lot and is very very good at it... good idea kinda, but i thought it was obviously ridiculous right away. the lines are just distracting is all, its a lot to visualize at once, but good try buddy

No its the orange lines of the fouth dimension its not possible the apocolypse is coming!!! Come on its just a drawing its not a true 4d object. Its impossible to see a 4d object in 3d. I mean think about it if you lived in a 2d world what would something in 3d look like?

I use to draw doodles like this as a kid. used to drive the other kids nuts. They always called me weird. Well at least I wasn't the same run of the mill like everyone else.

                            • This is incredibly stupid.

This can be done with any drawing. A drawing is 2 dimensional and 3rd dimension and "4th dimension" rules do not apply. this video is very lame.

If it made you ponder something more than a lame 2D drawing... YOU suck!

I think you meant something else but not 4th dimension.. Or, maybe I missed something? For me, the two cubes (or even more 3 dimensional multi-surfaces, not necessarily cubes) can fit together perfectly in a 3D world..

Maybe I could not get your point… can you explain more?
