By Holy shizite 1141079794 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveKarate is no match to boxing. It's all yaaahh, haiiik, haaaah, saaaai, and so on. Can you use karate to a fighter who could move around and fight back? Yes you can but if you're facing a boxer or a natural fighter, karate could be useless. By the way, I'm not a boxer. I'm a ninja. Sssh, don't tell anyone.

By floginsnogin 1146797354 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou dont HAVE to feel pain. Pain is just how your body tells you that your still ALIVE so its GOOD and shouldnt be feared. Pain keepes you alive, PAIN=FRIEND. Those who believe that this is fake, join martial arts. Youll see for your self that people can break many strong objects, the only fakes would be smashing through cement with your head. For performances they may crack it or replace the material with a different, softer one. It is an anatomical fact that you just cant smash a brick with your face and walk away..... smiling. And head butts are an awesome way to kill your oppnet as well as send a broken chip of his nose through your skull.
By EndOfWar 1140573836 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveReplace those ice/bricks/wood with your head and imagine it. That's what I thought. That's what they're capable of. Your skull isn't stronger than 4 chunks of solid ice, bricks and is sensitve to any shock.

Tae Kwon Do is better because you learn all of these stuff, plus focusing strength and speed on kicks. In Korea, they had this martial arts called Taekyon, which only dealt with powerful kicks. But when Japan took over Korea during World War II, Japan got rid of Taekyon and introduced Karate. When World War II was over, Korean martial artists who studied Karate, revived Taekyon and put them into one. That's why you see Tae Kwon Do filled with Karate tactics and kicks from Taekyon. But for breaking, in order to achieve this level, you must be around black belt 3rd degree or higher. I have never said TKD is better than Karate for fighting. I'm saying that TKD is better than Karate in learning lifestyle techniques. TKD is in Olympics because it's much more stable system than Karate. As long as TKD is in Olympics, Karate will never make it to Olympics since two strong martial arts share lots of common arts and tactics. Fighting depends on a person because I've seen TKD and Karate beat the crap out of Muaythai and muaythai is a fighting sport. Not together, separately, 1v1, tkd vs muay thai, karate vs muaythai, so on. I've seen matches where TKD beats Karate and Karate beats TKD for fights and sparring. Muaythai might have advantage in fighting since their objective is to "fight", but it really depends on a person.
By Thoraii 1138688487 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei did kickboxing to release some nervous energy..because of the breathing technic they taught me to focus..i dont suffer panic attacks anymore...and can even kick ass :D
By pinkypanther 1137928936 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHello.
This is something I know about first hand. I am a First Degree Black Belt and Have done "Breaking" for yeart. Why BREAK Boards, Ice and Bricks? First off, it's about Technic. If done correct, you can break Boards, bricks etc, and not hurt yourself. It's about focus and power. All part of martial Arts. Second, it makes a good show for the public. I was required to BREAK at each one of my rank premotions. It shows Focus and proper technic in the skill.
Knowing how to kick and punch correctly is what it's about. If you can break a brick with out hurting yourself, you can break some one elses face, ribs, etc.
When a technic is exacuted, you do want to exhale. The sound you hear is called a KI-UP. It's a focused movement of air at the correct moment to give proper power and breathing.
If you notice, breaking is not just throwing your leg or arm into something, beside proper technic, it includes a great deal of weight distrabution in the right area at the right time.
I have also learned the ways of karate. I remember when I first took me lessons, I thouhgt it was all about power. Then I learned about the so called "technic"
By Frostbanman 1137905690 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewaaaaa omg poor their hand and feet!
By dungeonest 1137820651 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehuh man you need to inhale so you have lots of power try it, it works and dont forget exhale to after you hit the block cause with you holding all that air in who knows you might just ahhhhh my arm lol... i do it all the time except i sound like rikimaru when he grunts hehehee lol
By unknownkiller 1137806118 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhen those guys are grunting while doing it (forgot what that's called) it sounded like one of them was playing cricket ^_^.
the whole thing's kinda pointless when breaking blocks, its not gunna intimidate the block, and the block isn't gunna hit u back so u don't NEED to exhale as you strike. I suppose it's just a habbit. What's with some of them doing it before they even start then, that's way too early to be of any use. When I do kung fu, I don't do this, just exhale quietly and not sound so freaky =P
You must be in a weird strand of it, because most of them say to exhale, it's a focus mechanism, and by exhaling you make sure to "release" not the breath, but to actually do what you need to do.
The gurnt has nothing to do with intimidation.
I learnt that it was :
1) to intimidate opponent
2) to get the air out of your lungs so you can't be winded by a counterattack
i also heard that some people "wrongly think" it is to psych yourself up, but apparently its not.
The guy who told us that wasn't my sifu, but his karate sensei friend. In my kung fu, we just exhale quite quietly, its how we were taught. Of course its a pretty fast exhalation, so its not gunna be totally silent, we jsut dont bother shouting. I think if you watch jet li, he doesn't make much noise in his kung fu.
i wouldnt want to be in the way of any of these guys' kicks...

By mysteriouz 1151992874 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveActually it's 'Kyokushinkai Kan', the meaning is as follows:
Kyoku - Ultimate
Shin - Truth
Kai - Organisation
Kan - School
However it is often called Kyokushin for short.
I respect the whole sentiment of martial arts, focus and discipline, may it be more of an inciteful material to other practitioners and aspiring students.
