Unfortunately in this day and age (in my opinion) non violent protests dont work because the will of the people has been comprimised by our (the peoples dependance on the regiemes that cultivate them) particulaly in the west. Our love of material wealth is at the root of this. We as a people are not willing to give up our material wealth in order to achieve change in our own countries and our own foriegn policies.This is the crux of it, our governments will punish the ususrpers in their own countries by removing their material wealth. To the westerner this can be as tantamount as bodily harm or even death.The fabric and commercial /corperate values of western society have in effect trapped the average westerner into conforming to the status-quo making them ineffectual in creating change in the way western society acts on thier own soil and abroad .......... no wonder people run off the rails and as a last resort use violence in a vain attempt to be heard.

you have got to be kidding you saw how hard it is to deploy a bomb of this magnitude. Even if by chance the required materials and expertise were available to a terrorist cell ,after its construction how the hell do you deliver it via boat? plane? truck? highly improbable.They whom-ever they may be would find it much easier to construct a dirty bomb from western throw aways eg.smoke alarms, each one has an easily accessable stash of powdered americium 241 in it .A bomb made with this material wouldn`t kill many immediatly but cause long term health problems for the area affected.

I'm sorry frogeater, I'm normally above commenting on the little squabbly America bashing that goes on here because I know there's plenty of things that can be said about the US... However, in this case (in case you missed it) the bomb in question is a Soviet bomb, not an American one. In fact it was four times bigger than anything the US has ever tested.

Now I'm not going to jump up and down and go Yahoo America In Your Face or anything, but I will ask, before you turn an otherwise innocuous post into a US-bashing thread, that you at least check your facts... or at a minimum, listen to the audio of the clip. Thanks.

I read both your comment and frogeater's and I don't see the point of yours. The fascination for weapons emphatized by frogeater is related to the fact that a TV broadcast has been realized on this [horrible, everyone agrees] bomb...

A Russian bomb, which a British company produced a show about, which was rebroadcast on an American learning station, and then posted on a website frequented mostly by Europeans... equates to an American fascination with destruction. Hm, you do the math.
