The English Premier League season isn’t over yet -- but many are saying this match will decide it all.

“Manchester United vs Chelsea: The Title Decider”
“Showdown with Man United is our final, says Chelsea boss”

Manchester United has sat comfortably at the top of the English Premier League’s standings all season, even leading Chelsea with a 15 point gap. Since then, the Chelsea Blues have closed the gap to three points. (Video from ESPN)

Based on season numbers, the The Fox Soccer Channel reports this game should decide the league’s top team. One analyst thinks Chelsea’s recent comeback could threaten the Red Devils’ top seat.

KYLE MARTINO: “I always felt it would come down to this game as a title decider. I was a little surprised they set it up this way, actually. United are catching Chelsea on a furious upswing: They are in the form they were in earlier this season and are going to be tough.”

But an ESPN analyst says Chelsea’s upswing isn’t enough to beat out Manchester United.

“My question is why did Chelsea end up having to come back and do what they’ve done? … And now here we are, we’ve giving them a clap on the back because they finally got themselves back to play against Man United?”

But a writer for Breaking Global News says United hasn’t been playing too well.

“... [T]heir performance in the league in the past couple of weeks has been sloppy at best. They looked solid against Schalke in the midweek to book their place in the Champions League final, but that was with 7 fringe players and against a side that’s midtable in the Bundesliga.”

United midfielder Ryan Giggs disagrees, and tells BBC they’re playing well.

“Earlier in the season we weren’t playing probably the football that Manchester United has played in the past, but we’re winning games. Gradually after the turn of the year we played some great stuff and had some great performances and great results.” (Image from FansFC)

But a writer for The Huffington Post says the past doesn’t matter - the teams’ game time strategies will decide the winner.

“Whereas Chelsea really has nothing to lose here, Manchester United may be caught between wanting a win and knowing that a draw will be acceptable. Chelsea will be looking to get on the front foot from the off, piling forward in attack and trying to snatch an early goal to pile the pressure on United.”

It will all go down at Old Trafford stadium in London Sunday morning. Both teams will go on to play two more league games to close out the season.
