The guy in the motor sail boat should have put his engine in reverse. A large ship cannot turn or stop on a dime.

The events comittee at the Yacht Club has unanomously decided that playing water polo using our boats wasnt such a great idea.

The honorable Captain "Owa Tanna Siam" has suggested the possibility of "pin the Pirate to the pier" for next years event.

The board is still open for more suggestions from others. All at the meeting agreed to the importance of having enough events to keep the members occupied.
Captain Crunch is still a bit sore from the incident 2 years ago when a mob of bored drunken men had stolen the screen doors off of all his submarine fleet docked in the bay.

  • confused

I think the captain of the sailboat, which was UNDER POWER, got confused. I have heard that as you get close to very large vessels it can become very difficult to gage their actual course.

  • I did this when I was 9 yrs old

I froze up at the motor control running a small boat in Jamaica The owner got back to the motor just in time to alter our direction and miss a very large freighter anchored of kingston harbor. I hope that they were not injured in the collision as you can see from there wake and speed of the sailboat it was under engine power and not sail, so they could have changed there direction or slowed down . they should have passed to the rear of the larger ship you cant realy tell from picture which end of ship they were at.

  • Both captains were daydreaming

No horns from the big ship.
And the small ship just went straight into the ships way.
Both weren't "there" they were daydreaming or something.

  • Huh!?!

What the hell has this clip got to do with the Iraqi army?? Americans as a whole are generally great but there is just the small minority that can't seen pass there our egos! You're flipping idiots! Plus when sailing you must give way to vessels bigger than you and always pass on the left - bloke in sailing boat was at fault

    • Rules of the road.

I wonder what the Iraqi army has to do with this clip. ...
Whether sailing or motoring you must give way to large vessels confined by a channel or shipping lane. If the sailboat was on a coarse to the ferry's starboard (right) it is required to stay clear, not cross the ferry's bow to get to the left (port) side to pass as you said. I know this was a year ago and the chance of a reply is remote but I would love to know the answer to the Iraqi question and, also, the reference to egos. How is that germaine??
