The reason why truck accidents are such a concern is that drivers are there to make deliveries, and most deliveries have tight deadlines. If you work in an office and you are at risk of missing a deadline you work faster. If you drive a truck and are in danger of missing a deadline, you drive faster -- and this all too often leads to an accident. Truck accidents have caused many injuries including back, neck, spinal cord and even brain injuries. And, of course, truck accidents have been responsible for many deaths over the years; deaths of both the drivers and the people in other vehicles that may have been involved in the accident.
What it's like being a truck driver. We are skilled professionals at our jobs. You might want to look up just how many truck accidents are caused by stupid people behind the wheel of their car. Most cases the driver of the car is at fault, but the truck driver gets ticketed because it's his or her job. Just how many miles do you drive a day? Anywhere near 700? Didn't think so. So before you blame "stupid" truck drivers, just think, the car you drive, the gas you put in it, the food you eat, the clothes you wear were all delivered by a skilled, professional truck driver.
By sundown75 1181579544there isn't that many truck accidents but when there is one its big and messy so its more noticable. do the math on how many miles the average driver puts on a year verses the average trucker and see who has the most accidents. any of the ijuries you mentioned cold happen in any collision. I drove truck for about ten years and quit doing it because i was tired of avoiding accidents with brain dead motorists. unfortunatly there is a small number of truckers that drive this way also. so who do you notice being an idiot the sub compact or the truck?
By S_c_burke 1181592868Certainly does not cover all truck drivers. You might want to look up how many truck drivers are at fault in accidents. The truth is other vehicles are at fault only slightly more often than truck drivers. Even that is disputed as many times the truck driver is the only SURVIVING witness. You & the original poster try to make it seem like there is a huge extreme in the degree of fault one way or the other. Other vehicles on a national average are reported as"at fault" 57% of the time.
By Bad Maxx 1187578468i work at a trucking company as a mechanic. now we have some drivers that are very questioable, but all accedents that had happend with the trucks at my job most of them were due to the idiots in the cars. now i dont think that all truck drivers are all professional. i seen some bad wrechs causd by truck drivers. mostly the super truckers. 80 in a 60.
By Boneshaman 1187038659you're right.
My father was a truck driver for a while, and he never crashed once.
Truck drivers are usually good ol' boys.
miles a day they must be at the wheel for 15 hours. Most truck accidents are caused by tiredness.
Go to your local truckstop and talk to a couple of truckers. You will soon get an idea of where the majority put their priorities.SAFEty
By chuck.supatruck 1192598713I've never had a close call because of a trucker, but always the a**holes on their cell phones that drive like they found their license in a cracker jack box. No head check, no signal, cutting others off like a f*cking airbag makes it all good. Because I'm in lighter vehicle, I have a CHANCE at reacting safely. Truckers don't have near the chance with their momentum having to share the road with those g*ddamn idiots. Don't even TRY to blame their deadlines.
By somna22 1181788423Its a job that is very dangerous, but if it wasn't for them, our food, clothing, and accerories wouldn't be able to get, though they are cheap form of transporting items, first of truckers are payed low, and they put their life at the line everyday, always alone in a box, or with a complete idiot beside them who has no experience at all. My father had been driving for over 25 years now, he started driving in croatia now he drives in canada, he says not only is it a boring job, but every turn is a huge danger, its why 20% of the population lost their mothers and fathers due to immature drivers. R.I.P for those who died on the roads
By Croatia2007 1182895464that 72% of fatal motor vehicle crashes involving commercial vehicles were caused by the driver of the car.
By highwayman281 1183082209It's obviouse what happened here. The truck was making a right turn into the parking lot. In an effort to turn into the parking lot without going over the curb, the truck must swing out far left, and cut back in. The genius in the BMW tried to speed by on the right, which is a truck drivers blind side, so when the truck began his turn, he had no idea that the idiot would actually not pay any attention the the blinker or the fact the driver was slowing down, to turn.
By great2be 1184103709I think in America we could really use a seperate highway for trucks running from somewhere in the northeast to the westcoast. This would reduce the truck traffic on routes like 70 and others. Government is talking about adding lanes to these anyway, why build a superwide highway when you can build an alternate route?
By tooomp 1182568894There WAS a system set up for truckers. It is called the interstate and it was originally designed for trucks to speed up the movement of goods from end of the country to another. It has since then been taken over by the "4 wheelers"
By kadacoza 1266719879bill the trucking companies, who bill the customers, who bill the public ... better to make lanes on roads smoother and safer than an extra highway just for truckers.
By Rugratz2222 1187044764I am someone who has been driven off a highway by a truck, has riden in a truck (OTR) and who is now married to a professional driver. People need to stop and think as to how and why those and other truck accidents happen. Yes there are some idiots who shouldn't be driving anything bigger than a two axel, but the vast majority do deserve to be called professional drivers.
By Brighteyesfluffy 1185033859they remind me of the final destination truck crash. amazing movie
By Glennerd_lfc 1182970288OK! its mainly not the truck drivers fault!!! if the stupid adults would learn how to drive and put there damn cell phones down for a little bit, and the old people get there lisence taken away. then there would be less problems. my father is a proud truck driver and yes hes had some accidents, but MOST of them are from those people in cars being stupid and not paying attention. most of the time when cars arnt paying attention the truck drivers need to swerve away resulting in some accidents. and there are sometimes when its the truckers fault. but no matter what theres going to be accidents. get over it. and who ever thinks its always the truckers fault. try being them for a day being on the road for over 15 hours a day its not easy and comes with a lot of risks. trust me its not easy being away from your family and with all that danger, there risking there lives for people to have what they need. if it wasnt for them peoplee wouldnt have a lot of the things they have. so yall can just shut up. well those who say its all the truckers fault.

most of them anyway. If you take into account the number of miles they drive in a year-for most it is about 125,000 and most of them have NO accidents in that time -how many of you can say you have 125,000 accident free miles? That is about the same as 10 years of driving for the rest of us. Can you go 10 years and remain accident free? 5 years of truck driving would be the equivalent to 50 years for the rest of us. My husband has driven off and on for over 30 years and has had ONE accident and it was caused by a "4 wheeler".
By kadacoza 1266720145Those watermelons in the last clip sure would hit the spot right now.. hahahaha.
By afa78 1188964217Lets get rid of the cell phones and all the other distractions these pea-brained car drivers load up with and learn driving is serious business-DEADLY serious. No one on a car needs 400 plus horsepower under the hood-no one.
