The quarters, because they are mostly copper (over ninety percent), conduct electricity easily. They offer an easy path for the electricity to make its jump. Even better, because quarters are clad in nickel the sides are made of nickel while the core is copper the electricity passes through the copper core focusing the electrical discharge towards the thin edge of the quarters. This narrows the point of release, creating a more powerful electrical arc.

  • idiotic move

DONT EVER TRY THAT... EVER! few reasons, wrecks the battery by short circuiting them and frying the cells and can cause it to blow up, unless being scared for the rest of your life is you dream then i i would not suggest doing it under any circumstances

  • Can be Dangerous...

A car battery is a very dangerous box of tricks. Most things can hurt you if you do something wrong, but a battery has got more ways of damaging people than you might expect. Don't go near them unless you know what you are doing and take proper precautions.

Batteries can Explode. A battery Charging releases hydrogen – this gas is explosive and the slightest spark can cause the battery to explode, given the right mixture of gas and air. Ventilate well....

You are better off not trying this yourself... by watching this video, you see what it can do, no need to try....
