some cameras come with remote control. so, all you have to do is put the remote in a waterproof bag, press record from the remote!!:D

look in your phone book for "military surplus store" or "army antiques" but when your buying it MAKE SURE it doesnt have dry rot on the sealing (the rubber gasket isnt all torn apart)

autofocus? You need to make sure the part of your camera that contains the emitter can 'see' through the little window.
Also, I think it would actually be cheaper to buy a toy swim mask than to buy a sheet of plexiglass, then just use the plastic from that. Not nearly as tough, but for a swimming pool, it would be ok.

- TRY....
Try it without the camcorder first to see if it leaks and if you really want to see if the box leaks or not, leave it at the bottom of the pool for a day or two, that will let you know for sure if it's water tight or not before you put your camcorder in there.

Great video, i'm sure its not 100% water free though, keep it on for a while and without some really well made sealing plus the proper closing, your gonna get water in, and just a bit at 2 feet below fully submerged is begging goodbye,
the water cases have guarentees unless damaged
the advanatages beside these cons though is that the ammo box is a tough metal, and as long as the cam corder doesnt detacht and fly around, has a pretty good survival depth
Look around, you may find soemthing 20$ for a waterproof ammo box for things like DDay hehe
