    • Water is Ok

I've been washing these things with water and have had no problems.

    • Why not?

The scratched part of the CD in made from polycarbonate, used for Lexan and bullet proof glass. The only thing I would worry about is a paper label, and most CD's are silk screened and don't use paper.

    • Paper labels are OK

Paper labels are OK, even though the books say no. I've been using paper labels on CDs and DVDs for years and nothing wrong ever happened. The important thing to remember is, the label must be attached carefully (with an applicator--I made one myself), and once. The moment it makes contact with the disc, do not remove it to reattach: it will peel off the disc surface and render it useless. So, according to me, paper labels are good if applied right. There's nothing like disc imbalance. And oh, don't forget to attach it to the label side only.

  • If you realy want to repair a CD

Use this product called "Braso" it´s for polishing metals but it works great on CD´s you will see them as new again.

  • Never heard of using gum...

But I did hear that you could use toothpaste. I'll give it a try though, all the CD's in the car are scratched.

    By ch@ndelirious 1182032285
    • It works...

Toothpaste actually works. Many people have tried it. It doesn't work great, but it works good enough. Personally, I just say forget the whole process and burn a new CD.
