    • It looks like

the pilot simply got this landing all wrong. You can clearly see he comes in to fast and has no chance of recovery.

    • OMG .. I hope everyone made it out ok. D...

As to the pilot "getting it all wrong" I'm not to sure, the black hawk came in from the side not above like it would have normally would have.

  • there was a

1000 plus page report delivered on the crash last week and they found it was due to mechanical fault ie. the people contracted to do maintainance had been taking shortcuts and they found that the helicopter had missing parts that were crucial for safety. so i guess that can stop yr uninformed quibbling

    • The 2006 Fiji Crash Investigation began ...

edresch your comment of "1000 plus page report" refers to the report on the 2005 crash of a Navy Sea King helicopter on the island of Nias, this report
was released on 21 Jun 07.
The 2006 Fiji crash investigation is a long way from a report being released , I find it hard to view the last moments of a friends life in Mark Bingley , my thoughts and compassion go out to Mark Bingley (Bingas) and Joshua Porter's families at this terrible time.

I can only hope that when released, the official report on this terrible incident in some way helps to resolve your grief and sad loss of a friend. I posted this video to inform others of an event in time and history.

I posted this video for no other reason.

No probs mate, it gives closure and I was fortunate to know and serve operationally with Mark, he along with Joshua will live on in both their young children. They will always be remembered.

    • Disappointed

why do they have to release these. not something the families need to see, let alone everyone else to see.

and it brings up stuff they would have already dealt with.

same with the steve irwin film.

    • The Steve Irwin film

has been destroyed and will never be seen on Metacafe. We need to see this helicopter crash so we don't rely on the Australian Government to tell us what happened. At least by seeing it we can begin to formulate our own opinions on what happened, rather than being told what to think.

  • Yeah right...

You think that in a few seconds, while everything is turning, they would find the ejection button and even think about pressing it?

By Past Light 1182593450 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Eject to ur own death?

WHY WOULD THEY EVER MAKE AN EJECT BUTTON FOR HELICOPTERS!?

jesus, the second u press it, its sending u thru the rotter blades, ur gonna either get ur brains splattered all over or if ur even lucky enuf, sliced in half...

    • From what I understand

The Kamov Ka-50 Helicopter, also known as the "Black Shark" or the "Werewolf", was actually fitted with ejection seats. It has got a rocket booster which pulls the seat and the pilot out of the cockpit. Before that is possible, the blades of Ka-50's co-axial rotor are jettisoned with little explosive charges.
