You don't know what skateboarding is, you don't know the type of person it takes to do it, and YOU certainly do not have the mental power or mental strength to do it. Oh yeah look at all the cars that could of crashed because of this kid. Stop thinking that we don't know we are doing. We know the risks, we assess the situation and we skate accordingly. You on the other hand probably don't even know how to swim or ride a bike judging by your mentality. Just because it isn't ok by you doesn't mean it isn't ok to do. Sports like football and basketball have a higher risk and injury percentage, not to mention the severity of the injuries in comparison to skateboarding. Have fun living through your son. I run my own business, I skateboard, I'm a teacher and I see attitudes like yours on a daily basis. It doesn't matter that you are a woman, ignorance is ignorance. Do you skateboard along side traffic on busy intersections? Do you weave in an out of traffic and/or pedestrians on sidewalks? Did you ever grab on to the rear bumper of a truckor bus and find it hilarious as the truck/bus moves into traffic? I somehow don't think so.

Skating is not cheap thrills! Skating asks lot’s of self-discipline (we all know pain and frustration it sometimes brings. Skating is so hard that most “top athletes” would piss their pants if they knew how much practising skating recuires).
Skating is culture of it’s own and no one can fully understand it if she or he is not part of the culture.

skateboarding is mentally challenging in the way that you have to overcome your fears and push yourself to the limit. You fall and hurt yourself and you get back up and try again, because you have a strong mentallity. also it does take a lot of metallity and skill to be able to figure out how to flip a skateboard round and make it do what you want it in the air. I bet you've never skateboarded and so, you don't have an opinion!

Allow me to point out that I never claimed I could skateboard. Nor did I express a desire to learn.

All of what you said ties into dexterity and coordination... Which I stated was an integral part of being able to skateboard.

When did I say I opposed skateboarding? It would seem that your problem lies with reading and the comprehension thereof. I simply said it takes physical skill to skateboard not mental.

Futhermore, the only thing I oppose is people who chose to do so in a stupid and or dangerous fashion. That and people who cannot articulate an effective, opposing view point without the use of vulgarity and disparaging remarks.

Another word for courage can be stupidity. When one fails to understand the possible consequences of an action, he is free to act with a great deal of "courage" or more succinctly, stupidity.

Point in case, jumping from a two story building. While one might say this would take "balls", let try and look at it from another light...

Let's say for the sake of argument, that the skater fails to stick the landing. What can follow is an array of injuries, from broken bones to internal bleeding. And in more serious cases brain damage and death. Now let's call these injuries consequences.

We see in this example the skater failed to understand the seriousness of the consequences. In doing so he able to act with "courage", and jump from a two story building.

In an attempt to tie all this in, let's look at another example using the same "action". There is a fire. A person is stuck on the second story with no way to escape but jump. Rational thought would dictate this would be the only situation in which you would jump. When your life is in very real danger, and this is the only way to insure survival.

Now in this case, when the person jumps, he is working on basic instinct. He evaluated the situation and based on that information he understands that the greater risk lies in the fire. He will risk a broken bone or two in order to survive. This can be called "courage" or "balls" but not stupidity.

Sadly, judging by your grammar and dialogue, I fear you will not be able to grasp the contrasting influences in the above examples. In any event, I tried.

i fing it so annoying when people comment on something negatively for the sake of it. If you had actually tried skateboarding you would know it was one of the most difficult sports and that, while it may not require a large amount of intelligence, the skateboarder does require a huge amount of determination.
If you ask any person that has skated before they will probably tell you that it would take anything up to about 6 months just to perfect a difficult trick.
Obviously a sad person like yourself enjoys badmouthing people who spend many months perservering towards a goal that they want to achieve, it has nothing to do with if you think it doesnt take brains or "courage", and i think i speak for all of us when i say

sadly, you fail to comprehend the greatness that we call "skateboarding". you think that this sport is not mentally challenging? no you do not need to use mathematics to learn to ride a skateboard, but you do need a good state of mind. You need to learn to be calm under pressure. You need to be able to shake off your last fall and try again. Skateboarding is more mental than phsyical. and if you do not agree with what i am saying, why are you watching videos of skateboarding? I found your post almost agreeable.. right up to the end, where you felt the best way to articulate your argument was to use profanity. Your grammar definitely shows improvement over the other "pro-skater" posts, and you were able to skillfully get your point across. Why then use profanity? As if it can someway bolster you viewpoint.

All that aside I am neither for or against skating. I can appreciate the physical skill it takes to do some of the tricks. And they are quite entertaining to watch.

HOWEVER....mine and every other law abiding citizen's tax dollars have been used to build local skating parks. So skate their and stay off the road.

I watch vidoes like this to see retards without protective gear smacking their heads and various body part against hard surfaces such as concrete...

all know the consequences of not landing a jump off a two story house. They watch videos of each other doing it. They've seen what happens if you fuck up just like you have. They choose to do it anyways. It's an attempt to push themselves to be the best. While you may be happy with mediocrity a skater is not, thus their superiority to you.
